MLB tested 3,185 players and staff. There were 38 positive tests.
Delino Deshields Jr only positive test that has become public so far
quote:
Seven staff members also tested positive. The 38 positives represent 1.2% of 3,185 samples collected for the first set of results. For comparison, the NBA on June 26 reported a 5.3% rate of positive tests (16 of 302) among players, while MLS announced a positive rate of 2.7% (18 of 668) among players two days later.

Yeah, I was watching MLB coverage of the opening of training camp and it's painfully obvious Mike Trout did not want to be there from his interview to his body language in the footage they showed of the Angels warming up on the field.
While there seemed to me to be genuine enthusiasm among most they showed, when the best player in the game is so openly distraught and that's what the media is focusing on....I have doubts there will be actual games.

There will be, he just may not be a part of it and that is his choice. But it is a bad look for him and baseball, for him because he was one of the leaders posting "when and where" on Twitter and baseball because he is the best player. As long as Soto, Acuna, Bellinger, Judge, etc play they will be fine

Man I hope you are right - you just know each and every positive test will be portrayed as the end of the world the whole time and they will go to him for a comment and he'll give his same "what are we going here" vibe he's been giving the whole time.
I wonder why he just doesn't opt out like some others who have newborns or at risk parents? I guess he feels like he owes the Angels to play cause they went out and got some pieces for him, but his heart just ain't in it and it's obvious.

Devers, Yelich, Story, Buehler, Muncy, Marte, etc.... So many great young players in baseball and I'm missing a ton of pitchers

Freddie Freeman and 4 other Braves test positive..... Freeman has been active doing hitting videos on Instagram with his son
quote:
Brian Snitker said Freddie Freeman, Will Smith, Touki Toussaint and Pete Kozma all tested positive for COVID-19. Freeman is still battling a fever. Smith and Toussaint have been asymptomatic. These are the only four Braves who are known to have tested positive.

That's in the ballpark of the national positive percentage which means we are a very long way from herd immunity.

Royals fans will have to wait just a little longer to see long-time backstop Salvador Perez back in a Royals’ uni. Salvy is the latest player to allow his name to be released after testing positive for coronavirus. Perez is asymptomatic as of right now, and though he personally stressed that people should wear their masks, he feels well enough to play (though he can’t, at least for now), per The Athletic’s Alec Lewis.
