Arroyo should start at 3B next year for TB. Him and Adames could be an interesting young left side of the infield.

And Jake Bauers is a top 60ish prospect as a 21 yo in AAA. Played both OF & 1st the last couple of years, but I believe the Rays expect him to be their 1B of the future.

That'll give them a young, controllable infield filled with potential. But damn the Rays will really suck if they are all going through their MLB growing pains and trying to adjust at the same time. Surely Adames and Bauers won't both be up opening day.

Grant Brisbee?Verified account
Evan Longoria led the AL in sacrifice flies. The Giants led the NL in sacrifice flies. Together, they will rule the world by making outs.

They have some good young pitching too with Faria, Snell, Honeywell and DeLeon. And they will be adding whatever they get for Archer and Odorizzi because those guys are gone either this offseason or at the deadline

They will be bad for a few years but are making the right move

LOL

Longoria is on the wrong side of his age.

and after this season he has a full no trade for being a 10/5man. And his contract is back loaded.

Thank You San Fran, i feared Mo's dumb arse would trade for Longoria.

Don't get the move at all. Frazier would have been cheaper in respect to both money and players. Only positive to this is that they cleared span's contract

For a team that was adamant about not hitting luxury tax zone, they are trying their damnest to get there.

Guessing they unload one of: cueto/smardija(?)

Donaldson is the same age. And will probably get more than Longoria next year.

I agree. I was just making the point that 31 really isn’t that old. Or that Longoria is that washed up.

Dude needs to be a DH or transition to 1B. He's not a good outfielder. Despite the lack of a position he can play well, I think he can be a competent role filler for a rebuilding team. Best case scenario something like .260 with 20HR and 70-80 driven in.

Post-Longoria trade, Giants now project at 75.0 wins and have the game's 29th-best farm system. Also, depending on calculation, possibly MLB's highest payroll.

Didn’t Giants have their best players hurt last year?

Not that I believe projections that well but they had Belt, MadBum, etc hurt at different times. Healthy and a nice bounce back from Longo they could challenge for a WC. Of course they have to be healthy with a lot of breaks but hell we could argue many teams need the same thing.

It’s a two-year deal that comes with a $16MM guarantee, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic (Twitter link). There’s also an $8MM vesting option for a third season.

Good move. Suitable replacement at a fraction of the cost to retain Santana.

they need basically every single key contributor to bounce back to have a prayer at the wild card. not impossible but unlikely

Todd Frazier would set records for fly ball outs playing in San Francisco. Bad fit.
Giants' position players will probably rebound some, but they need pitching. They have 3 good starters (if Cueto rebounds), but their bullpen was atrocious.
They could sell - have a lot to sell - but they won't do THAT well because their players are paid at market rates and they may be past their prime or quickly getting there.
