Wow Moose must be desperate

Guess it’s just a 1 year deal but still seems pointless for KC. Unless they think they can deal him to a contender at the deadline

Everyone is probably feeling desperate now. Been thinking we might see this from arrieta for a while but who knows

Mike Moustakas has agreed to a one-year deal with a mutual second-year option with the Kansas City Royals, sources with knowledge of the deal tell Yahoo Sports. It guarantees him $6.5 million and can max out at $22.7 million.

Moustakas rejected the qualifying offer of $17.4 million and ended up signing for $6.5 million. Ouch.

Did they not try to trade for Stanton? Or sign Price the year before? How do you know they aren’t planning to write Donaldson or Machado a blank check next year?

This doesn’t seem good:

There have been more 90s and 91s on scouts’ radar guns for Shohei Ohtani’s fastball today than 95s. He has allowed six runs in three innings to the Tijuana Toros.

Any other agent would have told Moustakas the same thing. I’m really surprised no one gave him a better offer.

Good. I hope the Angels miss the playoffs again.

The Angels did Boras rejected it.

quote:

Baseball is impossible to predict, so five months after Moustakas turned down $17.4 million, and three months after he turned down approximately $45 million, he signed for a reported $6.5 million guaranteed.

Depending on the incentives, he could be taking a paycut from last year. Even before it's official, the deal sent shockwaves through the industry.

Boras, the most successful and famous baseball agent in history, lost a standoff.

Seems like more players are saying “get me a deal”

Moustakas, Jon Jay, and now Lance Lynn have all taken 1 year deals

I’m still praying for a Fowler style return to the cubs for arrieta.

One can dream.
