Source says #Marlins likely would accept offer of Panik, Beede and Shaw for Stanton alone -- if #SFGiants committed to paying at least $250 million of the $295 million left on Stanton’s contract. @MLB @MLBNetwork

Apparently Giants officials are in LA talking to Stanton and his agent now. That isn't allowed (would be considered tampering) unless both sides agreed to a deal already. I believe they have 72 hours to convince him to drop his no trade clause and agree to it himself, but I could be wrong on that.

I personally don't think all of these details would have been released by the Marlins if Stanton hadn't already given his OK to the Giants though, imo

We haven't soured on him. He was brought in to play while Freddie was out. When Freddie came back, we had no spot for him. It makes sense to move him.

i think theyve agreed to the deal. i doubt this means anything about stanton. could be the marlins releasing this stuff hoping it puts pressure on stanton to accept the trade

What a terrible move for Marlins

they eat 40Mil, and get nothing in return, but could of been prospects.

And Giants are not a contender, even with Stanton. I think Stanton group(stanton and agent) are hoping Dodgers come in at last minute and try to pry him away from the Giants.

If i'm Dodgers, i wouldn't, let Giants suffer as they go over luxury cap, and have to deal a starter or 2.

If i'm cardinals, i go use those high end prospects and pry Archer from Rays. Then Sign Cobb, nicasio, and a closer, and you have a solid starting staff, with depth, and a really good bullpen.

do we think the Cards aren't landing him because he doesnt want to play there?

If that's not the case, major fail on their part

Sounds like he is Cali or Bust.

Which is why Boston and Philly are out and St.Louis to follow.

Had Angels not made those jackass offers and contracts to Pujols and Hamilton(trade for contract) they could of been a player.

its just so hard to see him leave miami to go to another organization who is about five years from a total rebuild

maybe he goes for three, gets them to the wild card, and then opts out. i guess i can see that

if he wants that whole contract while also being in the best place to win he needs to change his opinion on st louis and boston real quick

I just don't see the Giants being a contender. 90+ loss team.

They need a lot more than Stanton.

Now that the price for him is out there, some one could jump in and make a late move.

I've heard the Cardinals offer is 10X better and has one of their top pitching prospects involved. So if he does join Giants ,then it's clear he only wanted Cali or nothing.

We haven't heard from his agent or Stanton himself, and a lot of these MLB media guys are mouth pieces for the agents, and will tweet out fake info from GM"S for access to other stuff later. BK is a super mouth piece for Pujols agent.

Giants will be looked at as the jackass in a few years taking on $250M of that contract.

Seriously, none of these Media guys have talked to Stanton or his Agent, and they continue to throw shite against the wall, hourly.

I love the updates:

*Update* Giants and Cardinals still interested in Stanton.

*Update* Stanton will play baseball in the NL next season
