Some moves are being made right now, headlined by the Kershaw deal, but for the most part we are still a month away from things getting going in earnest in terms of player acquisitions, extensions, and so on

I'll keep the thread updated on moves that are interesting or significant

Machado sounds like he has no interest in going back to LA. Dodgers have Seager coming back anyway.

I think Yankees go after a pitcher. Olney saying Indians may trade Kluber.

Been looking forward to this offseason. Most big name free agents in one offseason in quite a while.

JT Realmuto’s agent has informed the Marlins he won’t resign with the Marlins in 2 years. Best catcher in baseball is getting moved this offseason.

The Nationals may yet make a play to retain Harper, but otherwise, more teams can afford him than you might think.  We see the Dodgers, Cubs, Phillies, Yankees, Giants, and Cardinals as the most likely suitors.  The Cubs were the pick here until the very end, and they are still a good match, but payroll concerns pushed us to switch to the Dodgers

Reds need pitching but we won't spend money. We hired Derek Johnson from the Brewers but he doesn't have much to work with.

Much to work with. That is kinda the point.

Did you look at the Crew’s pitching?

I know next to nothing about the guy besides he was with Milwaukee last year. What do Brewers fans think of him?

Coached at Vandy. Known for being a teacher and fixer. Was Counsells, iirc, first hire, from the Cubs.

We loved him. Crew had one sp win 10 or more this year. Got really good years out of Guerra, Davies and Suter. Guys no one thought would be good.

I’d say he would probably be the first or second best pitching coach we ever had. Between Mike Maddux, Johnson and George Bamberger.

You got a good coach.

My off-season wish list

- Re-Sign JA Happ
- Re-Sign CC Sabathia
- Give Adams/Sheffield a legit shot at the #5 starter
- Trade Gray for some catcher depth
- Put Cessa/German in the pen
- See growth from Andujar/Torres
- See Clint Frazier get a clean bill of health
- Re-Sign Neil Walker as depth

frick No, Didi probably misses the first two months of the season. I think they can get by with signing someone else cheaper. Plus the Yankees issue is not offense, it is shutting down the opposing team.

I do not mind Corbin but not at 5+ years and 160+ million. If somehow the Yankees can sign him 4 years 100 million with an option I would be fine
