He said MJ was hungry and there was a pizza joint that was still open. He said 5 people came to the door to deliver the pizza. That’s when he had a bad feeling about it and told MJ not to eat it. MJ responded with a frick you! lol
At three in the morning he was in fetal position and still beat the Jazz. Goat!

This is absurd. You can barely move 15 hours after onset of food poisoning symptoms, much less compete in athletics at the highest level

I don’t believe the whole 5 guys and pizza stuff too far-fetched but it’s common knowledge MJ wasn’t suffering from the actual flu and more than likely a stomach virus exacerbated by his penchant to drink and party

But you can with the flu?
There’s different levels of severity of food poisoning

eh, it depends. If he got the proper meds and fluids immediately, which is probably true given who MJ was, then he'd could be strong enough to give it a go. Regardless, it's no more believable he played with the flu than with food poisoning. I couldn't imagine competing in anything with the actual flu. My actual thought, though, is Jordan was simply hungover

The two times I’ve had food poisoning in my life I would’ve GLADLY traded it for the flu.

the one and only time I've had the flu I couldn't stand up without feeling like I as going to faint for about 3 days. I've had food poisoning several times. I'll be blowing out of both ends all night, get an IV and meds the next day, and feel fine by the end of the day.

I’ve had both

Food poisoning twice, actually.

Had the flu this past season

The 6-8 hours that it lasted, My first bout with Food poisoning was infinitely worse than the flu

Yeah I was the complete opposite. That 24-48 hours of food poisoning (The initial puking/ diarrhea followed by the washed out feeling) significantly worse than any time I’ve ever tested positive for flu ( usually just have a few aches, some fever, and a sore throat).

Crazy how different peoples bodies are.

Well I'm in the fortunate position of having a doctor for a father, so when I've gotten food poisoning, the turnaround time for me getting care is basically instantaneous. I'll just go to his office or he'll set up shop at my house with everything I'll need. When I got food poisoning in college, it wasn't so quick a process. I'm sure MJ would have had the type of immediate medical care I have.

But, yeah, the flu was the sickest I've ever been in my life. Wouldn't wish that on anyone. I was out of commission for over a week.

I'm even more impressed. I've had food poisoning before. IT sucks.

Those pizza dudes must have been pissed after watching the game on TV

Not only does he win the game and eventually the series (and another title with it) but their handiwork just added to his legend.

I've only had it once, but this was my experience. Once I got an IV, the worst thing was being tired from being up all night with explosive vomiting and diarrhea.

I slept for 6 hours and felt mostly normal, except with an empty stomach. For athletics, if I could get past the vomiting pregame, I'd rather have food poisoning than the flu.

Everybody's bodies react differently to different things.

But I would take food poisoning over the flu everytime. Food poisoning sucks, dont get me wrong. Throwing up and diahrea is never a good combination. But I was over that and back to normal in 2 days.

The flu on the other hand was a different animal when I had it. It had me in a fetal position crying in my bed asking my fiance if I was gonna die. I was out of commision for about 8 days. At least with the food poisoning I could still somewhat function. Dealing with the flu walking from my bed to the kitchen felt like I just played a game of full-court basketball.

I probably could have played basketball as soon as I rehydrated and rested.

The 3 or 4 hours I was emptying my stomach and colon...that was awful, but once it was done, things got back to normal fairly soon. The flu, I'll always feel crappy for a few days.

I obviously don't know MJ's situation or body, but if he cycled through food poisoning like I did, I can see him being more ready to go than with the flu.

How the hell would the pizza joint even know the pizza was ordered for Jordan? Its not like he would use his real name. For most of his career he used the name of the kid who beat him out for the last spot on his high school team when he was a sophomore. Sounds to me like the trainer is playing spin doctor to protect Jordan.
