Name, image, and likeness deals and coaching salaries aren’t the only investment the University of Miami community is putting into its football program.

The school is reportedly planning to build a 162,000-square-foot football facility and accompanying 200,000-square-foot parking garage that will cost at least $100 million.

Amenities will include not just coaching offices, but also a new locker room, alumni lounge, meeting rooms, and wellness facilities.

It will also provide media resources, including a podcast recording studio and a photo studio.

The parking garage alone will be seven stories tall with an 18,000-square-foot dining facility

Unless they get a stadium they can consistently fill, I don’t really care about Miami.

Only about 15-20 years behind 40 other schools.

Good.

Maybe now someone, LITERALLY ANYONE, can provide a consistent challenge to the only team worth a shite in the entire conference over the last almost decade.

Meanwhile NW spent $250 million a few years ago and UW is dropping $300 large on a new training facility.

A $100 mil isn't a lot in south Florida. But, then again all Miami needs is a competent coach because they are located in arguably the best recruiting area in the country.

They'd be better off using that money on NIL unless the current facilities are terrible.

I guess it comes down to how much the marketing power of football to sell the school is actually worth but even back when I was there in the heydays of the 1980s having a football program didn't seem to make sense, and I was a nonrevenue athlete that benefited from football money.

The general school population didn't seem to care about football and the athletic dept seemed really separate from the university. And that was when we played at the Orange Bowl, which was a pain to get to as a student much less Hard Rock now.

Honestly if a bunch of schools got rid of football I don't think it would be a big deal in the long run, Miami Vandy, Cal, Stanford, etc... I still don't understand why UAB needed to bring football back.

Then you'll never care about Miami.

Never understood why non-fans of said school care about someone their attendance.

There's a reason LeBron took his talents to South Beach and it wasn't to attend CFB games. Tuscaloosa and Happy Valley ain't Miami.

The "Big 3" in FL were able to win big in the past without spending a lot money. We were the last SEC school to have an IPF.

Have you ever been the UM's campus? There is not a lot of parking and they love to give tickets.

They should play at Marlins Park or build another stadium that is closer.
