I am looking forward to Urban Meyer being successful in the NFL versus Saban. Meyer gets that professionals are not children who need to be controlled 24/7. Meyer will be regarded as one of the greatest coaches in football versus Saban who will only be known as a good college football coach. Meyer gets that the NFL is an even playing field versus Saban who failed and quit the NFL.

That’s still anyone’s guess though. Meyer has never coached at the NFL level. Saban coached for nearly a decade as an assistant and coordinator before returning as a head coach. So to say Meyer would know how to handle NFL players better seems like a stretch.

"No successful college coach will ever be successful in the NFL because Nick Saban was a "failure" that one time at Miami."

Such simpletons.

Dude is one of the greatest coaching minds of his generation and people are writing him off.
Obviously he will need to work well with his GM, but there's really no reason to definitively say he will be a failure like so many are.

Saban has lapped Meyer as a college coach. It's not close. Meyer won't succeed in the NFL. He'll retire again in 3 years.

It might be an understatement to say Saban is a "good" coach.

If sexy Kliff and Chip Kelly can get pro jobs, then Urbs is worth a try.

Oh I don't have a problem with it, hell the Jags can't get any worse. I just don't think Meyer will work out.

You’d swear Saban went 1-31 in the NFL. He went 9-7 & 6-10, 15-17. Definitely a failure by his standards, but far from Hue Jackson...

Seriously, that's like two 7-9 seasons, which in the NFL is not particularly bad. It's not good, but it's not bad.

In all fairness he was better, with mostly the same talent, than both the guy before him AND the guy after him (who went 1-15)

His biggest move was Culpepper over Brees which he listened to the team doctor about.... so if anything blame the fricking doctor or Saban being too cautious

I always think that is seriously overrated.

Brees and Payton hit it off cause they are both offensive minded.

Brees and Saban?

I mean you know that's not the worst combo but there is no guarantees.

I'm glad it happened and it changed history for so many teams at the college and pro level.

Until Lawrence gets hurt or ends up not being that great and he has another headache and is forced to retire again
