I spoke w/ an NCAA official this week who was “95% certain” transfers will soon be allowed to play immediately in basketball & football. Could be a one-time freebie, plus grad transfer option. So in theory, a student-athlete could play for three different schools w/o sitting out.

Are you for or against this?

As long as coaches continue to have no ramifications for moving, it's hard to argue this.

However, I did like the graduate transfer rule as a reward for completing your degree.

If this goes through, this plus the potential new rule about being able to play 4 games and still redshirt is really going to change the game.

Strongly against. Will start a shitshow of back channeling between coaches and players of different teams.

That would be entertaining. If a team has a hole on their roster they just go recruit a player off another team.

I mean, what's the alternative? Make a coach sit out a year if he decided to leave a school? Then who is coaching the team?

There would have to be stipulations though... Like the only way you can transfer and play right away is IF your HC that recruited you leaves....

This.

But it's hard to justify when the coaches can bail at the drop of a hat without consequences.

I honestly do not give a crap about this, if it happens, let's see how it goes would create tons of fascinating storylines almost like Kyrie facing his former team this is what dreams are made of y'all

It will probably cause some coaches to hate each other when coach a starts recruiting coach b players currently on roster. Recruiting will never stop and every program will have around 10 transfers every year. It will be crazy in college basketball and will create a bigger gap between the bigger and smaller schools. It is gonna be really hard for about 95 percent of mid majors to keep their players.

So we're talking about college free agency?????? Because that is what it is. Overall it is a bad idea for college football.....no way that there would not be more money floating around and changing hands for "recruits"

Nah!!!!!!!

Why not make a rule meeting the old rule half way?

As in making a player sit out X number of games in the season if he is a non graduate transfer. Idk say 3-5 games.

Western Kentucky finds a diamond in the rough who lights it up as a freshman, and Auburn, Tennessee and Georgia backchannel him trying to get him to transfer. Or Saban tries to steal LSU'S QB in waiting, just because.

If you think recruiting is a shitshow, you'll love free transfers.

For it, but there needs to be some definitive changes in rules to make it possible. You can't cap scholarships at only 25 a year when you could lose a ton of guys to transfers each year. The stipulation should be if the coach leaves, you can without penalty. Otherwise, it will be too much of a free for all imo. Especially with the new early signing period. Coaches tried to force kids into signing early. Tons of kids are now on the outside looking in as schools are full. That being said, now you have kids that have signed with schools and the coaches are no longer there. That's not right either.
