Breaking: Mets pitcher Matt Harvey is being designated for assignment after refusing to accept a minor-league assignment.

But the drop in ability is what ultimately was his undoing. Harvey made 18 starts last season and finished 5-7 with a 6.70 ERA. This season he was 0-2 with a 7.00 ERA through four starts and four relief appearances.

Could be wrong. But who's going to want to sign this clown? Not only has he been a terrible pitcher for an extended stretch but he's also been a grade A a-hole.

It's amazing how the dude just didn't learn his lessons.

Time and time again he was given opportunities and forgiveness and he decided that instead of a possible $100+ million future, he would rather be a douchebag.

I remember watching his 30 for 30 and he could give a shite less about baseball. He’s also a perpetual douchebag.

*Yankees will pick him up*

This dude is such a douche. He’d probably get crushed in the minors too.

It'd be one thing if he had just sucked on the mound. Somebody would probably take a waiver based on his past success and think they could rehab him. But the guy partied before games, publicly blasted the team moving him to the bullpen, spoke profanities to the press and thought he was too good to accept a minor league assignment. He's done.

Wouldn’t true Mets fashion be more like he goes throw a no hitter?

Obviously it was a build up, but he was sent to the bullpen last month after the Braves crushed him and now this after getting rocked for 5 runs yesterday against the Braves

He could still be a decent starter if he gave a frick. I don’t think any team touches him next year if his attitude doesn’t change. Mets should think about moving deGrom and Thor this trade deadline or offseason. I don’t see them being able to compete with the Braves and Phillies the next few years.
