It's a great time to be a Mariners fan. 18 years without the post season all but confirmed to turn into 20.

20? I'm guessing this thing will hit at least 25.

But, no point in blowing things up halfway. If you're going to blow it up, go all in.

What was the most frequent lineup last year?

CF Gordon
LF Span
SS Segura
RF Haniger
DH Cruz
2B Cano
3B Seager
1B Healy
C Zunino

C, 2B, SS, LF and DH are already gone. I imagine Dipoto is looking to dump Gordon and Seager and he really should trade Haniger at this point. There's a chance they dump nearly their entire starting lineup.

Might as well. They should be able to get some good talent for Haniger. Gordon and Seager wouldn't get much. They'd be essentially salary dumps.

I don't think any team would take on the salaries of Seager or Gordon, but then again I didn't think anyone would take on Cano's.

Phils also getting Nicasio per Rosenthal

This trade makes no damn sense for Seattle. Like zero. You should be able to get a decent top 10-15 org guy for Segura straight up. No big contracts coming back, no additional guys on your side.

I don't get this one at all.

I don’t love Crawford but he was a top 30 prospect in baseball and top 2-3 guy with Philly before the year

JP Crawford sucks though. He sucked for the last couple of years of that high ranking too. All just draft rep.

They are sending two relievers and eating ~50m over two years of Santana.

You can't tell me Crawford is worth that.

They’re taking on 40m over two years in Santana and shipping out 4/58 in Segura and 2/17 in Nicasio. I agree I think they could have done better because I don’t like Crawford just saying they got a guy who was considered much better than a top 10 or 15 org guy

Apparently Segura had some clubhouse issues (got in a fight with Dee Gordon late last year). My guess is that leaked out which made clubs aware that the Mariners were dumping him no matter what, which limited the return on him.

That could be legit. Bad clubhouse guy would explain why Segura, as a good player, moves around so much

As a Royals fan I know what you are going through. Let me tell you though the rush of 2014 and 2015 was worth the decade plus of misery before it.

I could be thinking of a completely different player but didn’t he have a young child die when he was with Arizona? If true, that obviously is more than enough to turn your world upside down

The locker room stuff last August was possibly just the boiling point of the mariners having started off so well then come crashing down in the 2nd half. I’m sure the players were very frustrated knowing they went from playoff locks to not having a chance in like a 2 month span

The GM said that he wasn't blowing up his young core and planned on keeping Haniger. Haniger is only a year younger than Segura.
