Looks like Shaka Smart might be on his way out from UT

I think - and to be clear, this part is my personal speculation - Texas is helping Shaka find another home in exchange for a reduction on the guaranteed money left on his deal.

Beard has pretty significant ties to Texas Tech, no?
I get it - more money. But I think he likes where he’s at. But just my opinion.

he has significant ties to both UT and tech. is an alumnus and started his coaching career at UT. was a very long time assistant at tech

I feel Shaka Smart got away from what made him successful at VCU. His teams had athletes that played a physical full court press almost all game. At Texas he just recruited away from his system and started trying to sign the highest rated player. The NCAA rule changes against allowing more physical defense really hurts what made him successful.

He was left nothing but yes it did. I thought he’d follow Self after he left TU and won some at Wake.
