I agree, that 06 team was unreal. 17 D1 players on that team.

they were good and had a lot of talent but not 17 d1...

I am counting 11 that were sophomores or above - that signed d1 over the next two years...

JJ you are usually spot on with the facts but you should recognize you know nothing about Monroe officials relationship with WM. It has been basically non-existent since 94. What may have been the reason then has nothing to do with now. It's been 18 yrs. There are probably about 10 of 100 officials that still call for Monroe that officiated that long ago. There have been 3 assignment secretaries since 94. Everything is completely different than 94. And if you really think there were some "phantom calls" because it was WM then you know jackshite about officiating. A man of your caliber should really gather the facts about what you speak of like you usually do rather than disparage a group of people you know nothing about.

Explain the flag on WM's 2nd touchdown. The WR got under the DB and put him on his back. The back was on the 10 or so when the block happened right behind him. The call was personal foul when the block was 100% legal. If it was a block in the back, the TD would've been called back. It wasn't after the whistle either as the block was about 3 feet from the runner.

Saw the final of 42-14. That's incredible or EA is way overrated.

The defender had been stumbling since the 30. #10 had him lined up from about 20 yds away. The official likely judged the contact was unnecessary because of the severity of the hit combined with the fact the defender,as close as he was, had no hope of making the play. Regardless of how many officials would have called that, that doesn't make it a "phantom" call. It was in front of 20000 people.
On a side note, since it was a foul that occurred during the play, the foul should have been enforced from the spot of the foul.

I didn't see the play JJ as I was already on my way home, but the Norris' made it sound like there was a block pretty far out of bounds after he had already crossed into the end zone. Again, I didn't see the play and I'm surely not sticking up for the refs as I started a thread during the game about how ridiculous it was that with each big WM play a flag would come flying.

I ca live with that. The enforcement made me laugh. We talked about it being "Excessive Blocking" like on The Blind Side.

Dale, he hit him in bounds. The Neville player landed out of bounds though.

ETA: I could see WM go back to Monroe officials in a few years. Depending on who follows Shows.

It doesn't really matter but the defender was out of bounds. He had taken two full strides in the white.

Disclaimer: I watched the game with my Dad. I'm typically rational, but his hatred for Neville got me going a bit. I'm not really sure where it comes from, but it's a legit hatred for all things Neville.

That's why I wish they would play every year. Genuine dislike among the fans makes for a great atmosphere! Plus Neville should be able to compete for several years.

Was the call a personal foul? In that case it would be from the end of the play.

That 42-14 wasn't really indicative of how dominating U-High was this afternoon. One TD on a fluke fumble return and the other on a KR against the backup coverage team. They couldn't have had many first downs. And Brossette fumbled on the half yard line or it could have been another TD.

Now we get to try and contain Brazil next week. That will be interesting.

It was called a personal foul. And since it occurred during the play it should have been enforced from the spot of the foul.
