re: LHSAA Quarterfinals/Semifinals
Besides the fact that they’ve upset two higher seeds, does anyone know anything about Live Oak??

quote:

#11 Barbe at #2 West Monroe

Two teams that don't like each other. WM has dominated the series over the years but Barbe has won a couple times in the last few years. Barbe comes out fired up and will probably be leading at the half.
WMs defense and depth will be the difference though.
West Monroe wins by 17.

quote:

#7 Zachary at #20 Airline

One of several interesting matchups in 5A playoffs. Airline has a stout defense but it will not be enough to overcome Keilon Brown and the Broncos.
Zachary over Airline by 14

quote:

#8 Acadiana at #23 Live Oak

Live Oak is at home against the Wrecking Rams of Acadiana. LO has had two upsets in the playoffs and has played a few good teams close. Unfortunately for LO, they play the veer machine of Acadiana.
Midnight strikes Friday at LO and their Cinderella run. Acadiana by 20

quote:

#14 Covington at #16 Hahnville

Another intriguing match up. Hahnville squeaks out a win over a good Ruston team last week. Covington continues to roll with a perfect 12-0 season. Hahnville has home field advantage.
Game is to close to call but gotta go with Covington in a squeaker, Covington wins by 3.

re: LHSAA Quarterfinals/Semifinals
RE: Live Oak, word i got is that someone did them some favors in the seeding department. They got destroyed by Denham. It was so bad they were doing place kicks (think FG kicks) out of bounds from inside of their own 20 rather than give Tyre Golmond a shot at a return. Still got housed.

Denham sacked them something like 11or 12 times.

They run Triple Option and try to play D. They had a multi game losing streak and looked bad during the year during it.

re: LHSAA Quarterfinals/Semifinals
Live Oak was beating Sulphur 23-0 at half and they have size on both lines. I think it will be a closer game than most think. Both teams run the ball 98% of the time, but Acadiana’s defense will be the difference. They are pretty good against the run.

re: LHSAA Quarterfinals/Semifinals
quote:

#19 Neville at #17 Lakeshore

Neville is somewhat down this year but you never count them out. Great coaching and a winning tradition. The QB play for Neville is the weak link.
Game is to close to call and Neville is away.
My mind and heart says Lakeshore but gonna call this one for Neville. Neville by 1 point.

quote:

#68 Richwood at #37 Sterlington

The ole saying goes, its hard to beat the same team in one year. Sterlington won a few weeks ago against Richwood. Richwood has the athletes and has one of their best teams in a long time but Sterlington is a hard-nosed team that plays tough.
Sterlington continues to roll by 14.

quote:

#147 Red River at #72 Ferriday

Probably one of the best teams Ferriday has had in a while. The home town team of Jerry Lee Lewis rolls bigly. Ferriday by 20 points.

quote:

#143 Haynesville at #110 Kentwood

Two teams that have played each other many times. Haynesville is somewhat down from their normal teams. The Roos of Kentwood will be a little too much. Kentwood by 14

quote:

#211 Basile at #111 Oak Grove

Those big ole country boys at Oak Grove will roll easily. The number two's for Oak Grove will be in by halftime. OG by a bunch.

quote:

#12 Catholic BR at #4 Evangel

Evangel barely gets by a decent Rummel last week, Catholic has had a good season this year. However, there is not a repeat for the Bears of Catholic. Basketball season start Monday for the Bears. Evangel by 24.

quote:

#15 Scotlandville at #5 John Curtis

John Curtis rolls with their usual game. Strong old school veer offense and tough defense.

re: LHSAA Quarterfinals/Semifinals
I think Neville rolls... This is the quintessential "program vs. special senior class team" game and Neville has been on the ECA Curtis and WM level the past half decade or so

The seeding are based on power rating, the numbers are what they are.

re: LHSAA Quarterfinals/Semifinals
I believe West Monroe will squeak by Barbe
Acadiana will hammer Live Oak

Neville will not beat Lakeshore. I would not have believed that I would say that after seeing them play earlier in the year, but their coaching staff has done a great job and the kids are playing with so much more confidence.

One of my upsets will be Richwood over Sterlington. Richwood has the athletes and knows that they are capable playing Sterlington heads up.

My other upset will be Red River over Ferriday. Bachmann in his first season has done a great job.

Finally Oak Grove with one of its best teams since the Dalrymple years will win big.

I have not decided yet on what game to see. My choices are Catholic vs ECA, Airline, West Monroe vs Barbe, Sterlington vs Richwood, or Oak Grove vs Basile.

I'm intrigued by the Richwood vs Sterlington rematch but my need for luxury will probably win out and I will go see West Monroe play. That place is great.

Acadiana lost to Sulphur in Acadiana...Live Oak just won at Sulphur..not saying it’s gonna happen but you have to think Live Oak at least has a chance

Anybody going to a game?

Hahnville is closest for me but I really want to go see DLS and STM play in Yulman.

re: LHSAA Quarterfinals/Semifinals
So why are the public still dumb as shite when it comes to the travel rules? Are they just being typical louisiana public institutions by being dumb and rewarding those who don't deserve it?

The big private divisions have gone to the home team is the top seed no matter what.......
