LHSAA developing proposals to end split or stop it from expanding
Will be interesting to see the student vote

“The two-day meeting closed Tuesday with past president Niles Riche of Assumption High School making a motion that charges Executive Director Eddie Bonine and his staff to develop at least two proposals to bring LHSAA schools back together or prevent expansion of the split beyond the sports already split along select/nonselect lines — football, basketball, baseball and softball.

No timetable was set, but Bonine said his staff would begin working on proposals and a survey that may ultimately be similar to one completed by schools in 2013-14, the year the initial football split began.

Bonine said a new survey would poll schools, coaches and student/athletes.”

What would be your proposal to make it work?

No that’s a terrible idea

I’d say have a TOC for basketball
For Football just have private’s and public as is but get rid of power poll and give regions bids 1-4 and go
E1plays S4 etc

Baseball no idea

I think it's more likely the remaining team championships get split... Soccer, volleyball, and wrestling are dominated at the team level by select schools

Is softball still split? This will be my daughters first year.

The LHSAA is a dumpster fire and Bonine is unstable. I expect this to go terribly.

Establish a 6A for playoffs only would help. An enrollment of 1300 can't compete with a school of 2300.

Bonine is one of the bright spots, but he can only do so much with our school administrators trending more and more liberal.

frick LHSAA.

They buckled to the shining publics and now they can't put the genie back in the bottle.

I would be very surprised if this changes anything at all. The principals have repeatedly voted to keep the split and I would anticipate them to do so again. This comment might not be received well but I think it is absolutely ridiculous to survey the student athletes.

this. If they want influence on this issue they can tell their principal how they feel... And they'll be graduated soon anyhow

And yet we have the split because two schools of 400 dominated the state for decades.

Open up the district lines. Let kids go where they want to go, but not bounce around every year. You can go where you want as long as you can get the kid to school and pick them up every day. Once you’ve attended a school you can’t transfer without sitting a year.

It’s allowed every day for teacher’s kids, why not allow it for all? Then you can’t complain about recruiting when everyone is eligible to attend wherever.

this.....is one thing many are afraid of.... if a parent has the resources to fake a bona fide move NO way to catch them...

All the private’s had to do is be a little more transparent and this never would’ve happened in the first place. Because that’s really what this boils down to.
