Pretty inspiring story. Doctors told his mother he would never walk or talk, and would have to be institutionalized LINK

I’m wondering if he had some more severe (maybe physical) medical issues because “never walking” isn’t something that manifests from autism whatsoever. There may be proprioceptive issues, but that’s a big difference than not being able to physically walk.

With as common as autism is, I can guarantee you there are hundreds, if not thousands of current and prior D1 athletes with it.
