re: Kansas State football team trying to hold University hostage (link fixed)
In all seriousness, a student getting kicked out because a bunch of other students want him kicked out is roughly the same due process sexual assault defendants get on college campuses.

SJWs - the people of tolerance.

The University can probably kick him out and get away with it - the courts have basically said Universities can do whatever they want, students have no right to confront their accusers and that due process doesn't exist on College campuses.

With how much money football brings into athletic departments I see no issue with players making demands in this situation or any situation in general.

This is beyond idiotic, especially at a place like Kansas State. For every 1 potential NFL player K-State has, there are at least another 30 who will see their football career end when their college eligibility is done. And yet they’re still getting a free education.

If anything, the schools should wake up and realize how much power they have by pulling the scholarship of any player who threatens to sit out because of an issue like this. If you’re not playing, then you’re not living up to the terms of your scholarship. Most of these guys wouldn’t have a college scholarship if not for their football abilities.

When the demands they make are fundamentally inconsistent with the 1st Amendment to the Constitution, it shows that the players are absolute idiots with completely irrational demands.

Ok, yank the scholarships.
They aren't holding up they're end of the contract.
Im sure multiple players from d III schools would jump at the chance to play in the big 12. Its not like k state is winning anything.

Sure, maybe if it was a coach or an Athletic director making insensitive jokes, not over your feelings being hurt by a random students twitter post that has nothing to do with the football team.

I didn’t realize college aged adults took the internet so seriously. They remind me of a toddler throwing a temper tantrum

I interpret that reasoning as why their actions aren't harming them in the least bit, in this particular situation.

Majority aren't making it to the NFL. Pull their scholarship and G5 or FCS teams will come calling in a heartbeat. Majority of them are getting non STEM degrees anyway, so they aren't losing much value.

And if they succeed in getting this guy kicked out, they’ll cost the school a bundle in a lawsuit in all likelihood.

And the student should add every single football player as defendants. As well as that basketball player who won't play either. Money talks and BS walks.

way past time to start pulling scholarships. let the players at these mediocre programs suddenly have to fend for themselves and see if they want to remain woke

LOL no. It's conservatives that are weak. They will ruin this kids life if thats the easy thing to do.

Ya'lls CEOs are shining boots. Your women are kissing boots. Your coaches are apologizing for wearing a conservative news network shirt. You cancel virtually anything that they ask for. I'm curious why you think this will be any different.

The football team cant practice anyways due to the Rona, so I’m a little confused on their threat. I’m going to chalk this up to trying to score cheap points without actually putting something on the line. I’m thinking in a few weeks they’ll quietly head back to practice

As a conservative, I can’t disagree with you. Leftists are laughing at the fact that Dixie Beer changed its name. shite like that is comical to them.

A season without football will make people realize how little they really need to get drunk and waste their Saturdays watching TV. These players better hope there is a season.

Man I love college football. Every single aspect of it. It is probably my number one hobby. Its what I do ( LSU season tickets ) and watch to get away from life and the bull shite of the world. But I so hope there is no sports whatsoever this year. As much as I love it we have allowed sports to become elevated above a lot of others things that should be more important. As a result of that athletes have become drunk with entitlement and again we the consumer have allowed it because of our demand for the game. I am not saying these athletes shouldn't be a part of the political process. They absolutely should because they are young adults of voting and age should participate like every other American. But their opinions shouldn't have more sway and influence than anyone else. They most certainly shouldn't be allowed to blackmail a university into kicking a kid out of school for saying something insensitive. That student has freedom of speech as we all do. Now that doesn't mean there are no consequences to what he says. But the school shouldn't be blackmailed into the action they take by other students.
