I know it’s early but that’s ridiculous. Only 2 commits. How much longer can David Beaty survive? His record there is 3–33 (.083)

Their ranking in 2018 was 61st....not that bad by kansas standards.

How did they pull a 4 star out of NOLA?

What in the everloving frick?

To be honest, I honestly think Kansas scraps their program in the next 4 or 5 years.

There is literally zero evidence there is a pulse in the program.

They’re still getting back to having 85 scholarship players.

Weis fricked them hard to the point where they had like 39 scholarship players when Beaty took over. And he says they were down to 28 by the time they got to spring practice.

By comparison, I believe an FCS team has 65 scholarship players.

Yep. There was a great piece on The Athletic about the circumstances Beatty faced when he took over. He’ll probably get canned at the end of this year, but he’s done about as good a job as one could expect given what he inherited.

If K State can put together a respectable team most years in the middle of a wheat field, Kansas should be able to do it on the doorstep of the KC metro area.

His grades were trash but they somehow got him in. Don't they still have the Tony Hull on staff? He's a former high school coach from NOLA who's got quite a few guys from Louisiana to come there

No freaking way. A P5 school has one FBS win in three seasons. Low scholly numbers early shouldn't excuse going backwards from 2 wins in your third season. He's done a bad job under bad circumstances.

What is even more impressive is Weis had two teams pay him millions to coach. Only in America.

You can only sign 25 players in a year.

Combine that with graduating players, people who exhaust their eligibility, transfers, dropouts, etc and you are lucky to make up much ground from year to year to get back to 85 schollies.

You’d be shocked at how much awful FBS football programs bring in vs basketball teams at huge basketball schools. I remember reading an article about this a few years ago. Couldn’t find the article but found the source for Kansas’s numbers: LINK

Obviously, I’m sure things look differently now but Kansas has always been a perennial doormat in football and sucked in 2014 too. I’d bet football still brings in decent money via conference tv money

You don't need a full 85 to win 4 games in 3 years. Also who does their scheduling, why have they gone to MAC schools in back to back seasons?

Did something specifically happen beside the magino firing that caused KU to fall so fast?

It makes just zero sense how fast they went from a team that could win 6 games to a team that wins 1 game a year.

I never understood the Weis hire. He took ND to historic lows. With all the resources he had at ND and what he did with it, what the hell did they expect him to do with the football resources at freaking Kansas?
