That’s just ridiculous to pay that much. There is going to be a huge crater in baseball payroll in the next 2-3 years if this kind of crap continues.

I admittedly don’t follow baseball much anymore, but didn’t the Angels sign Pujols to something like 10 year/$200 mil and the Angels have never really gotten their value out of him?

Seems like these deals, not necessarily the dollar value itself but when combined with an insane term like that are just hamstringing your franchise.

If JT Realmuto getting a 100M+ contract isn’t a sign of the contract apocalypse, I don’t know what is. Even if he is a Tier 1 catcher, $23.1M avg is insane.
