so you're basically admitting he was above reprimand and answered to no one because of longevity and monies donated .. thanks for making my point ..

But remember he was NOT arse raping boys. He "punted" to the people who ran security and campus police etc. He is JoePa not Joe Cop. So many people failed in this, but you can't heap it all on him because he is the most public figure.

No but is les miles a fair comparison to Paterno?
point being .. even by today's standards, Joe Pa played by a different set of rules .. he literally was the king of that kingdom .. the "well .. I passed it on to my superiors" explanation doesn't fly because he was above all superiors .. it was HIS to do something about and he didn't ..
that said .. I am not a "Joe Pa can rot in hell" extremist .. but I also don't think the cleansing in death process applies here either ...

amazing what can happen to a person if they have nothing to live for. RIP Joe

"above reprimand"- he got fired.
By the way, coming down harder on Joe Paterno does not make you some morally superior person. I think just about everyone thinks he should've gotten fired and that he should have done more in his position. Just because you think that isn't enough and that he should also burn in hell, does not mean that you are MORE against child abuse or in some way that you are helping out the victims more than people who are expressing empathy for him and his family.

no .. at the time Joe Pa WAS Penn State .. sorry .. he has culpability in this that will forever stain his legacy ... it will never change .. He made the choice to sit back .. let it get swept under the rug .. and allowed Sandusky continued access to HIS facilities where the incident(s) occurred and happened again .. how people think this counts for nothing is amazing .. sadly, in the end, this is how he'll be remembered ..

I find it amusing that the man did far more good in life than anyone in this thread will likely do, yet all anyone cares about is his failures.

he got fired when it was obvious there was no other choice ... Others involved were fired too .. he wasn't singled out, but he was obviously THE highest profile .. I wonder how you'd feel if that was your kid in the shower ..

And sadly people will remember him this way without a single shred of evidence other than what a few people with their own personal agendas are saying to save their own asses.
We will unfortunately never know for 100% certainty what he did and didn't know because of the character of the people talking and the reasons for them talking in the first place.

that's just life ... one bad decision can stain you ..

Is anything good he did more meaningful than what he failed to do? If so, what is it and why?

Because the failures top the good things. It's common sense.

And people knock Hitler but they never talk about the good things he did

You seriously didnt compare Joe Pa to a man that almost wiped out an entire race of people just because he didnt like them did you? Because if you did then absolutely nothing else you say in this thread can be taken seriously at all again.
