Progressives hate football.

It glorifies physical strength, mental stamina, and rewards the most successful with compensation even at the collegiate level.

Football is a liberals nightmare. College football’s stronghold being Trump country makes it even worse. It’s why you see the actions of the California courts in an effort to take down the ncaa and it’s power structure.

This stems from "replay". I don't really know how to get it out of the game, but it doesn't belong. They would have to tell the stadiums and the broadcasters to stop showing controversial calls. Replays on screen only for awesome plays. The calls on the field stand without review.

I got downvoted into oblivion a few years back for suggesting the NFL and football in a professional sense, as we know it, will not exist in 25-30 years.

Poor you. Besides the fact every fricking body has been saying it for the past couple of years.

Do you have any idea how much ESPN pays for Monday Night football and one playoff game. You really think espn is somehow sabotaging one their biggest if not biggest investment.

There's a window for one of these start up leagues to do it right.

This is a terrible take. It has to do with rules penalizing the defense for playing defense.

The Alien Test:

If Aliens came down to earth, with no prior cultural biases, football would be likely their least favorite sport of all. The amount of rules and flow of the game is pretty bad

Think about it. You can hit a guy, but only sometimes. You can’t tackle some guys, but can’t even hold others. Hell, at other times you can’t even touch the other player. The amount of rules and stoppages in the game make the sport only really likeable to us that grow up with it as a cultural passion

Fournette got penalized 15 yards last night for throwing a great block to defend his QB, or at least that’s how it looked real time, and they didn’t show a replay which triggers my inner conspiracy theorist.

You’re right. I should say penalizes non linemen for playing physically

Except we all have DVR and can watch every play a thousand times.

if our little internet forum board makes you uncomfortable discussing how the NFL's product has digressed in recent years, i'm sure r/politics would welcome you back with open arms. regardless, no one GAF.

Truth.

It is an overly complex sport that has so many rules that it will eventually reach critical mass and destroy itself.

How can an offensive player throw a blindside block against a blitzing/rushing defender?

That shoulnt be theoretically possible unless I’m missing something.

Blindside blocks (which I’m glad are now penalized) happen against the run of play.
