Actual tweet:
What in the actual frick

One of the big questions within the game about this MLB replay system has always been how willing umpires in the replay room are to overrule a call by one of their fellow umps.
Hard for the replay crew to look at Lance Barrett standing right on top of this play and say, “Wrong!”
What in the actual frick

MLB umps can get fricked. Bring on the robots.

Pretty sure that's why the pass interference replay failed.

The problem with replay (in all sports) has always been the part about needing clear evidence to overturn the call. It is extremely difficult to get “clear” evidence in these situations.
The better way to handle it would be to ignore the call made and base the ruling off of what we think happened from the replay. Even if you don’t get clear evidence of something you likely lean one way over another. We should not be defaulting to the call made on the field just BC we have no evidence.
Tonight is a good example. While I personally think we got clear evidence he didn’t touch the plate I can certainly understand the idea of needing more evidence. In an ideal world they would review the play, see that their is no clear answer but it seems much more like the missed the plate and thus rule that way.

He never touched the plate, it was clear as day. If that’s not clear evidence, it doesn’t exist.

Bohm for Philly still hasn’t touched home plate

The excuses for why they're unable to get calls right with instant replay are all similarly pathetic. If a play is not reviewable, fix the damn rule. If you can't get a good look, install more cameras. If you are worried about hurting the umpires feelings, man the frick up.

It's not like this was an NFL tip toe down the sideline, looking for chalk dust type of replay. The dude was almost a foot off the bag. Hurt feelings?

It's also not like this is the first time replay was involved.
This was so egregious, that it's pure incompetence (and someone needs to be fired), or there are other forces in play (and someone needs to be fired).

I umpire junior high and high school games and there are several plays in every single game where it’s so close and happens so fast that it basically becomes an educated guess. With pro ball being even closer and faster its hard to imagine an ump getting pissed over a reversed call.

Man I wish this was a thing with accountants, we wouldn't have SOX legislation.

I think one thing that can bring us all, Sox fans Yanks fans Astros fans Dodgers fans Athletics fans that understandably despise that garbage Machado, foolish people that defend Machado, together is how bad the umps suck and we need robots.

Baseball umpires are, mostly, egotistical counts.

watching the girls baseball game between georgia and kentucky and on a double play to end the game it was clear as day first base foot came off the bag with clear visible space before the ball got there yet they still called it an out and it was game over, georgia wins 9-8
there wasnt even any attempt to confirm the play even after TV showed 2 replays both clearly showing her foot off the bag by 2-3" when she caught the ball and never touched the bag after catching the ball
the unwillingness to overturn bad calls is criminal at times

Get rid of unions and we don’t have this problem.
