Jason Heyward's MLB career sure hasn't lived up to the hype he received

All that early talk about the ball sounding different coming off his bat as compared to others never quite carried over to the games....A couple of decent seasons in ATL, and 1 in St. Louis. Other than that he's been very average.

But there are still some Braves fans here that would take him back in a heart beat.

HIS DEFENSE!!!

A few years back there were legit debates about Heyward being better than Stanton. Lol

It was a very expensive rain delay speech. And worth every penny

He hasn’t been the same player since taking that fastball on the face... which is totally understandable IMO.

Mother fricking this. As a Cub fan, he is worth all the money the organization is shelling out to him.

When a guy gets beaned in the head, it can affect him, mentally, and can ruin a guys career.

His last yearish in Atlanta, he was so far off the plate, that he had zero power, and if he actually got good wood on a ball it would be a miracle.

When he came to St.Louis, they got him to move up, and he actually had a good season. Then he went to Cubs and we heard about his new swing, and he went back to his later Atlanta days.

Guy is a very expensive Defensive specialist these days. It's clear, unless he over comes his fear of being beaned in head again, he will never, ever, come close to the talent he showed in his early days.

Some guys never recover from it. I knew guys who got beaned, and from then on, were stepping in the bucket on every swing, and once ur lost, u can never find it again.

I’ll take his glove in the outfield and his influence in that locker room every time.

I mean it’s not really a great comparison. They aren’t all that similar of players, and Heyward has had much much more successful career, even if he has been a disappointment for the Cubs.

That's a lot of money for just that.

I mean he is going to take some shite for it, but why doesn't he just wear a full face mask on his helmet ? If it helps me get back on the plate and hit again then frick it, I would wear one.

They're exactly the same in that they were both elected to HOF before their first at bat...and they're both the same in that they both fell extremely short

He's a great defender I'll give him that. Just can't hit at all.

He hit much better last year than his first in Chicago.

His defense is so valuable though

No matter if he’s trended down or not that’s still a horrible comparison that makes no sense.

Heyward came up with incredible pitch recognition at the plate while Frenchie would swing at pitches consistently that even Vlad Guerrero would advise to lay off.

He's been much better than that.

If he could just hit a breaking ball, he'd be a top 3 player, because everything else about his game is damn near perfect.
