Ja Morant with Murray State is by far the best player in College Basketball this year

If you haven't seen this kid play you are missing something special. Best PG in College by far this year. Hope the Pelicans draft him.

Dell Demps will either trade the draft pick itself or the player he drafts there. Then, he'll go overpay for some washed up player who used to play at Kentucky.

I agree 100%. Auburn played Murray State and Duke this year and I thought Morant was better than any of the Duke guys. His basketball IQ and leadership skills were on a whole other level from those Duke guys.
Morant will be the type of player you build your franchise around and can completely take over and carry a team when necessary.

He didn't go around on the camp circuit so the scouts from the recruiting services never really saw him and he was unranked through most of the process. I think he was a 2* by default. On his AAU teams there were always a couple guys considered better prospects, like Zion, so Ja didn't get noticed as much
The only reason he got a Murray State offer is because their scouts were at a tournament to see another prospect and the scout went to go find a bathroom and ended up stumbling across a 3-on-3 warm up game in a back practice gym and saw how smooth Ja Morant was. He convinced the HC to come back another time to see Morant and when he did they offered on the spot.
Eventually after he got a few offers, South Carolina offered which was his only P5 offer. But luckily for the rest of the SEC Frank Martin is one of the worst recruiters on the planet. Just imagine if South Carolina had a coach like Bruce Pearl who's both an elite recruiter and an elite scout of low ranked guys, he probably could have landed both Zion and Morant and they'd be national championship favorites..... But they couldn't keep either instate and now they suck

I remember when he signed.
His stats were nice. You hope some of that transfers to ncaa.
He's the 3rd Pg in a row to get to nba from Murray. And this is 3rd coach in that time.
