B/c in a short span in the mid 80s through early 90s Houston teams kept collapsing in spectacular fashion. After a bad Rockets collapse the Houston Chronicle ran a front page with CHOKE CITY as the headline.
In the 93/94 season the Rockets were in the Finals against the New York Knicks. They blew big leads in a couple games and found themselves down 3-2. It looked like more bricks in the Houston sports Choke City wall. But Hakeem and company turned it around and ended up winning the last two games to win the title. Once that happened they started calling themselves Clutch City.
