End of a dynasty

quote:

Zach Lowe of ESPN: Thompson has no plans to take a discount, and the Warriors don’t expect him to, league sources say. Thompson’s max next summer projects be about about $221 million over five years if he makes an All-NBA team (or wins Defensive Player of the Year) this season or about $190 million over five years if he doesn’t

He will have more impact than Harrison Barnes elsewhere but I think golden state will suffer about the same as after Barnes walked

I like Klay. Drafting him, what, 11th pick was absolutely brilliant, bit he can't be your #1 guy if you want a title. Maybe he will prove me wrong.

I disagree. Losing Thompson would be a huge blow.

It would, but if you're going to lose somebody, Klay is probably the most replaceable. Plug in a guy who can catch & shoot + defend, and keep rolling. Draymond is sort of a swiss army knife. Steph and KD are both top five players.

It’s sad when the NBA has gotten to this. Can’t wait for 2020 until we have a competitive playoffs...maybe

Players who can catch and shoot while defend don’t just grow on trees though.

There's no one, and I mean no one, more perfect next to KD and Steph.

-doesn't dribble around
-versatile defender
-2nd best 3pt shooter in the league and one of the best 3pt shooters of all time
-maybe the best catch and shoot player in the league

You couldn't create a better "role player" in a lab.

Very smart by Klay.

If he took a big discount he'd immediately become their biggest trade asset.

He takes the hometown discount to help his team and they repay him by sending him to some shite franchise who lucked into a hot up and coming player they won't be able to hold on to.

Klay has become the player you keep forgetting is on the team.

I mean, if it wasn’t for Klay, they don’t have KD.

Agreed. But your post just just called him a "role player." I'd rather replace a role player than the second best player in the world and another top five player.
