If they are still pulling decent ratings and 20000 fans by first weekend of march madness then yes it is

I don't see how.

It will be lucky to be around after year one.

I’d say yes

They pay on average the same as a low end player in MLS

And are getting attendance just as good or better than some MLS teams

And with a way better tv deal to bring in revenue and backed by a marketing genius in Vince and the commissioner Oliver Luck is the fricking man.

A whole sample size of .5 home games per team.

In before the NFL cucks show up to cite the AAF as the reason why the XFL will fail.

Not trying to defend them, but I do remember how hard this board was preaching the AAF before it’s demise.

MLS teams have significantly smaller rosters and draw 15,000-40,000+ fans a game for 17 home games vs. 5.

But also consider MLS is now a mature, sustainable league. They had issues year 2 into the late 2000s.

They also have players making 3+ million a year so it balances out and some teams don’t come close to 15K match.

Is it really though?

Most teams don’t make a profit
The league as a whole doesn’t make a profit

The only reason it’s still afloat is because the franchise fees that they report as profits eventually those will dry up. Those new franchise fees go into the revenue sharing straight into the other owners pockets.

But the ratings and interest was also there in 2001. What makes it different now?

Just wait until Andrew Luck signs with a team.

Wish they could have added 4 AAF teams to the XFL= 12 Total Teams

Starting with the Birmingham Iron

Maybe the XFL stays afloat w 15,000 -20,000 attendance ...if they start to fall below 10,000 not sure how they make it?

Pro sports is all about TV contract revenue. If it can keep up decent TV ratings it can be profitable.

Without TV ratings it will die.

I hope so. But I think McMahnon should have waited until the NBA and NHL playoffs are over to launch this. From mid June until the end of August nothing else is happening except MLB. And that coincides with many people starting to crave football again. I think many will want a break from football for a few months. Putting most of the teams in cities with NFL teams was also a questionable decision.

It’s actually a perfect time. XFL will finish in the midst of early round action for the NBA and NHL. Start in May and you’re competing with the finals of those sports. Start any later and you’re going to butting right up against the NFL season.
