Kind of quietly, the Wildcats are sitting at 8-3 and in second place in the Big 10 West behind Wisconsin.

The dude is a NW alum, has compiled a record of 85-65 since 2006. He has taken them to a bowl game 8 (assuming this year) out of the 12 seasons he has been there.

Does Fitzgerald stay at Northwestern for life? Or do any of you see him leaving for another school at some point?

I think he'll stay.

The thing about fitz is he will have one year where he performs an amazing coaching job but then the next year, the wildcats look completely out of whack.

I think he'll stay until he gets a big time offer. Like if Notre Dame showed interest, I think he'd take that.

He seems like a fit there and for their expectations

Still in his early 40s. Plenty of time to move on to bigger and better things.

Northwestern is like Vanderbilt. The fact that he's getting them to bowl games pretty consistently and occasionally winning 10 games is an amazing coaching feat.

I agree, but I follow NW pretty closely and he has had his share of head scratching games and playcalls.

I think he's there unless the program falls off a cliff, or he is money-whipped by a bigger school.

Dude it's Northwestern. Pat Fitzgerald is an amazing coach given his success at a school that was previously incapable of anything resembling consistent success.
In my opionion he is capable of much greater but will be a lifer there. Sometimes, it's more important to be living out your dream than to live somebody else's. it looks like making his alma mater a consistently relevant program is his dream. Good on him for sticking to it

Nw will beat illinois.
9-3.
He is going to break through and win division in a year or three.
He'll pull nationally after that. I programmed for nw. They compete with stanford for students. The day will come when fitz competes vs stanford for football players.

I think he's a great coach and would take him at LSU in a heartbeat

I would take him at A&M in a second. Who knows if he would want to leave though.
