Is it plausible for teams to cancel out-of-conference and pick up P5 home-and-homes?

Could Clemson, Oklahoma, and Baylor make some phone calls to rearrange their out-of-conference for next season? If they all worked out a six-way cupcake swap and paid some cancellation fees? The ticket sales for big games might be worth it.

Why on earth would anyone schedule P5 teams? Just schedule Memphis, Cincy, SMU, etc..

Sure, but the fact of the matter is that you're almost assuredly in if you go undefeated. It's only when you lose that your resume may keep you out.

The chances of 5 P5 undefeateds is essentially nil.

When is the last time LSU played a true OOC away game at a team that finished in the top 25?

I kinda hope a one-loss Big 10 or SEC team slips passed Clemson.

But there could also be several one-loss teams arguing for the fourth spot.

Complaining about schedules when you dont go on campus to play anyone that matters for years and years and years is hilarious

Does the 2011 opener vs Oregon count even though it was played in Arlington, TX? Oregon was ranked #3 at the end of 2010 and again at the 2011 preseason. LSU won 40-27

what did Penn State do the last time Bama went on the road to play someone with a pulse?

eta- the fact that a Bama fan is arguing about schedules is fricking rich no matter the context. when was the last time Tennessee fricking mattered?

I’ll wait

Ohhh, I don't know why I was thinking it was played @VT. I remember watching that game as it was right after the shooting on VT's campus.

Of all the schools, you choose the one that is famous for scheduling big non conference home/away games to criticize?

Exactly. If Oregon doesn’t schedule Auburn this year, they are almost assured a playoff birth.

Scheduling only matters for losses.

They do not care about your schedule if you win.

ETA: unless you’re Baylor. Sorry guys.

These things are scheduled years in advance. That's the problem.
Playing Texas A&M ooc is not supposed to be a bad thing.
OU and Ohio St had a home and home a couple of years ago. That was also scheduled years in advance...If Stoops retires two years early, and the next coach turned OU into a dumpster fire, Ohio St would have been blamed for a weak schedule that year.

I'm not sure what the solution is, other than at least having a FBS and P5 requirement. That's the best the conferences can do. The rest is unpredictable
