Than in the last 30 years? It seemed like from about the 70/80s through the 2010s the only positions you would see white players was quarterback, offensive line and tight end/fullback. Now in college and even some in the nfl your seeing more receivers, safeties and even a few running backs and even corners in college. Are white dudes playing football more now than they’ve been in the past or are more black kids focusing on basketball or some shite? I hope nobody takes this as racist or anything just making an observation

In the 70's and 80's there were plenty of white skill players. During the mid to late 90's is when you started seeing hardly any. I blame this on soccer, as well as the overall pussification of white males during that time. Many white boys quit playing high school football during that time.

I think you’re just seeing more spread offenses with 3 and 4 receiver sets, and shifty white guys playing the slot.

In all honesty, Wes Welker has is as of a pioneer as almost anyone in tbe modern game.

Without his success in New England, there would still be quite a stigma around white WRs and skill guys in the NFL. It trickled down to college when offenses started copying what the Pats were doing with Welker underneath. For about 20 years, teams were only looking for straight line speed demons like Randy Moss.

That makes sense . You don’t need 4 guys like moss on the field. You need 1 or 2 and then a guy like welker underneath who has a different skill set because just as welker couldn’t do the things moss could moss could never play the way welker did

There have always been white skill players. I don’t think there are any more or less now.

I’m thinking it was partly due to coaches not giving white skill players a chance. Pretty much every white player at a skill position in the NFL is a good player. Where are all the average or crappy white skill players? They didn’t even get a shot. It seems for white skill players to even get a shot, they have to be almost a sure thing and guaranteed to be a good player.

I've always remembered white skill players in college. Although there were probably more white RB's back in the day than there are now. I think with the spread a lot of those little RB's made the switch to WR since the game has become even more heavily pass oriented.

I'm so old that for my first football I went to lsu game there were no black players in the SEC. I don't remember any non whites in the stands around us. 1950s.
I attended early 1960s games at la tech McNeese and nw state and northeastern.
did not see a black person.

Kentucky (2nd place) got to go to hoops ncaa because Miss State could not play vs colored people.

people in paducah were so proud that Tilghman high school integrated without incident. I recall one black guy. a rb. basketball was all white.
slaughtered by Wes unseld and Louisville Male. all black.
Tilghman was mostly 6 5 bean poles.
Louisville Male was Unseld getting every rebound and guards under 5 10 who flew down court for layups off long passes and hit uncontested from the corners.
