Seems to me that I’ve met more tiger fans from the Houston area than have New Orleans which is insane to me. Most guys I know from New Orleans just don’t really care about college sports they’re more into the saints and pelicans. Anyone else noticed this?

Die hards are both ways. Lots of LSU love. Lots of LSU hate.

New Orleans is a bandwagon college town. It’s normally about half LSU and half whoever is winning.

Fourth largest city in the country probably has more of everything than New Orleans. Greater Houston has over 7M people. Entire State of Louisiana only has 4.7M. NO metro area has 1.2M

This is accurate. I've noticed more UGA flags popping up around Uptown recently.

If LSU is playing every bar in New Orleans will have the game on the TV.

Many Uptown New Orleanians have traditionally been very anti-LSU. A lot of them are Mississippi Delta-esque and have an higher opinion of themselves than they should and feel like LSU is below them, and I say this as something I have personally witnessed coming from an uptown family myself. Always been a lot of uptown people that went to Tulane (not as much now), Ole Miss, and “fancy” northeast schools. Honestly my grandmother is one of the only true old fashioned Uptown New Orleans people I know that bleeds P&G. The rest of the city and surrounding areas though are all LSU people.

Doesn’t Houston have the largest LSU alumni chapter? I honestly think y’all split it into 2 chapters it got so big. I live in Kingwood and LSU fans probably outnumber Aggies, Sips, and UofH probably 2 to 1 just by signs on houses and cars. Shite, I got 3 LSU fans on my street alone.

I’ll tell you what. As far as this board goes it’s a sizable margin in Houston comparable to New Orleans.

NOLA metro - probably not. NOLA proper - probably so, bunch of uptown Tulane liberals and uneducated folks not caring about college sports.

Maybe if you are just looking at a few bars on Magazine Street or in the CBD. First, Tulane will always have a presence, more so lately because of football success.

But outside of Uptown, especially in black neighborhoods you would be amazed at how many people are wearing LSU gear. This is a huge change from 20-25 years ago but now you have a lot of 2nd generation, and even a few 3rd generation black LSU families in NOLA, not to mention all of the NOLA football players that have played at LSU in the past 20 years. And thats not even considered the urban metro areas including Metairie.

Was very evident for BCS Title game on 1/9/12.

That game was 60/40 Alabama fans and maybe closer to 70/30.

Should have been way more lsu fans at the Superdome that evening.

It’s definitely Aggie country but LSU is the second most represented even more than Texas.

There are so many LSU grads, and fans, in Houston. At some point the # will surpass NOLA.
