Iowa State's Plan: 50% Capacity/Season Ticket Holders Only

This is based on current guidelines, seems to leave wiggle room. Thought the MSB might find this interesting. SIAP.

Is the next story on how U of Miami will only be selling 10K tickets per game?

It's an AD with a plan to not only play, but put butts in seats. I'll take any good news I can get.

I read that article yesterday and was wondering-
Stadium holds 61,500, and can't exceed 50% capacity (30,750)
If they sell 30,000 season tickets has they play. Will they only give their Big 12 opponents 750 tickets?

The Big 12 has a max visitor ticket allotment of 3,000. Half of that is 1,500.
So not that far off.

LSU fans “Texas thought they could short us on tickets, we’ll show them”

So no students?

I was assuming they were including student season tickets in that total.

Idiotic. Full stadiums no masks. No pussies.

My hope is that we get a grip as exponentially fast as we lost it.
My gym opens Monday and this guy wants to football.

Football stadiums will end up being almost at capacity.
I kind of think that’s part of the reason behind NBA, NHL, and MLB taking so long to return to play. It appears that NHL and NBA might not even finish their seasons until October.
They’re delaying their starts, in part, so they can play as many games in front of fans as possible. They will probably ditch the hub cities after about a month and return to home stadiums.

I'd be surprised if that happens. Most schools react to media pressure not the facts on the ground

Agreed. And I wonder what the percentage of fans at most big schools are season ticket holders. If it's well over 50%, it will be interesting to see who gets the good games and who gets the scrub games if they run at reduced capacity. I assume big money donors and students will get some priority.

By September, the media will be 100% focused on election coverage. Covid will be a complete afterthought.

Wuhan pneumonia will be one of the biggest topics in that coverage. They aren't gonna stop scaring people until after the election

True. But it won't be the 24/7 media circus that it has been the last two months. It will be a topic in election coverage. President Trump will say how many lives he saved, and the media will say how he didn't react fast enough and the blood of X amount of Americans is on his hands, etc. etc.
Scaring people still? The talk of masks and social distancing? I don't think so. The cat is already out of the bag right now. Most people already aren't scared anymore.
Fans will be attending sporting events sooner than September, IMO. I think you'll see it in July or August with a sport like NASCAR or golf whose fans don't care about the outrage from the virus. Once a few sports allow fans (even not at full capacity), you'll see a domino effect, in my opinion.
The Indy 500 will have fans in attendance. That's August 23rd.

I wonder what their average attendance is and what is their typical season ticket holder total? It could be an ingenious marketing plan.
With supply lowered, would demand go up? If I was an ISU fan that attends 3-4 games a year, I might be inclined to purchase season tickets and sell the games I don’t want to go to and either break even or profit.
If they average 22k season tickets, would this plan raise that to 28-29k? Could be a win.
