"If I told you that you have to do something completely meaningless that could potentially cause you to lose 90%+ of your future earnings, would you do it?"

One torn Achilles or ACL and you jeopardize millions of dollars. Why even play during the season then?

I’m actually the best prospect ever to come out of high school. Just didn’t want to risk my draft stock, so I? never dressed out.

I think if you weren’t a guaranteed first rounder then it would probably effect your draft position, particularly if you were a quarterback.

Outside of the playoffs no. The bowl games are just glorified scrimmages to make money for the bowls, conferences and schools.

It’s a business decision. The school should understand about making money.

This times 1000. The schools are in it for the schools...they should know the deal. These guys become personal small businesses worth millions

No (unless it's part of the CFP, obviously).

There are a lot of variables. How important is the game to your teammates and coaches? How much do you like them? What position do you play?

Everything else being the same as reality for me, I would play, but if my mom was counting on me to get her out of poverty, and football was my only very marketable talent, then no I wouldn't play.

What I don't understand is why they draw the line at the bowl game. Why not stop playing as soon as your team is out of contention for a division title? Why play in regular season games against the non-conference cupcakes? Why play the season at all?

Why the hell do these kids play these stupid all-star high school games like the Under Armour or Army All-American? Speaking of a waste of time. By definition, every kid at these games have offers from every blue blood program in the country. It’s not like it’s a collection of late bloomers hoping to get the attention of the Ohio States or Alabamas. What a waste.
