based on Tiger's tweets, he didn't find out there was an issue until this morning...

Dustin Johnson was never DQ'd. 2 shot penalty, which was thoroughly reviewed in the scoring trailer with him before he signed the card.

Masters officials reviewed and told Tiger he was ok

Sorry I "mis-remembered" as Roger Clemens would say.

I'll slowly back paddle out of this conversation now.

This is false. The committee reviewed it and did not find any violation and did not talk to Tiger initially
quote:

"A Committee would not be justified under Rule 33-7 in waiving or modifying the disqualification penalty prescribed in Rule 6-6d if the player’s failure to include the penalty stroke(s) was a result of either ignorance of the Rules or of facts that the player could have reasonably discovered prior to signing and returning his score card."

Tiger's statement says he unknowingly broke the rule...

Still don't get why this part of the rule is being ignored?

Has anyone read the rule? It clearly states that Tiger should be disqualified for improper scorecard after an improper drop... but nobody is paying attention.

Fck it... sad day for golf.

No it doesn't. It's says they can either DQ or issue the penalty based on what they felt the intent was.

Faldo certainly changed his tune today about Tiger needing to DQ himself (after Augusta got to him overnight and probably threatened him with a Gary McCord lifetime ban if he didn't start kissing their arse.)

Masters is like the Super Bowl if played at Jerry World every year and Jerry owned the Super Bowl TV rights and hired only the NBC folks to broadcast who massaged his ego and invited only fans he liked.

Me too. I want it to happen because of the ignorance shown in this thread.
I work with a few rednecks who might slit their wrist if he were to pull it off today, so that would be fun too.

I hope he hits in the water a few times, misses few more 3 foot putts and has an emotional breakdown throwing clubs and cussing like the whiney egotistical prick he is.

They do. Tiger missed the call. He didn't ask for an official to give him a ruling. It's not the officials job to offer him a ruling if he doesn't ask either.

Should a professional really be given the "ignorance of the rules clause?"

I don't think so. I've seen kids DQed for less.

Also didnt he admit to taking an illegal drop?

Yep. He should have done the noble thing like the game calls for and WD'd himself when he didn't get DQ'd.
