If the Braves win, that will mean that 15 of 30 teams will have won the World Series

Baseball is the undisputed king of parity.
Every spring training truly feels like a majority of teams have a shot at making noise/a run into the playoffs

And we just had a thread on here crying about the lack of salary cap.

Never mind. You have to click on the tweet to understand what this is about.

I don't think many want a salary cap. Those are awful for sports. But some of these teams being able to go out and buy All Star rosters is kind of crappy.
That being said, baseball is the one team sport where one guy can almost single-handedly win a game. Some these high priced teams do a bad job of identifying pitching talent, and they try to just outslug everyone. That doesn't work too well in the playoffs.

Baseball since the start of the 80s has generally had a lot of turnover in both WS wins and WS appearances.
Winners from 1980 to 1999-
1980s- Phillies, Dodgers, Cardinals, Orioles, Tigers, Royals, Mets, Twins, Dodgers, As
1990s- Reds, Twins, Blue Jays, Blue Jays, none, Braves, Yankees, Marlins, Yankees, Yankees

Okay, thanks. The OP was definitely lacking some perspective/context.

I guess 14 different champs in a 21-year stretch isn't bad either.

Shocking stat with the disparities in payroll
Yankees and Dodgers still outspend everyone

not really. baseball is an inherently wonky sport that needs really large sample sizes to normalize and you dont get that with individual series. example, the orioles swept the astros this year. anything can happen when you boil baseball down to just a couple games and it goes a long way in evening the playing field

why wouldn't you put the entire statement in the OP, doofus?

We have not had a repeat WS winner since the Yankees 3-peated from 98-00. And they almost won 4IAR.

I mean, you left off the most important part!

It's almost as if the baseball postseason is a random crapshoot where the best team often doesn't win.

MLB went from generally having very few champions in the old days to having a lot more variety once they started doing divisions in 1969.
If they didn’t do division, the Cubs or the Orioles likely win that year and the Amazing Mets never happen.
The more they expand the playoffs, the more random elements get thrown into the WS winner because you can’t just win the regular season then rest on your laurels. Some of the highest winning teams of all time like the Mariners never even made it to the Series.

Not surprising when the best teams can only win around 60% of their games during the regular season.

you should add this century, i figured that's what you mean but the Braves have won it before.
