If the 2012 Broncos were AFC Super Bowl XLVII representatives, would they have beaten Kap?

The 2012 Denver Broncos were 13-3, won the AFC's top seed and had Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning at the helm.

They lost the AFC Divisional Game against the Baltimore Ravens (11-6), who went on to beat the Patriots in the AFC CG, and win Super Bowl XLVII against Colin Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers.

Would the Broncos have beaten the 49ers?

No, Kaep is an elite quarterback and the Ravens got insanely lucky. No other AFC representative could have done it. The Ravens wouldn't have done it again if they played 10 rematches.

ETA: Dayum, there some broken sarcasm detectors up in here.

Yes. That was easily the most well balanced Denver team during the Peyton Manning era. Their defense and offense were both phenomenal.

They beat Baltimore handily a few weeks before, and had it not been for Rahim Moore’s frick in, they would’ve been Super Bowl champs.

IIRC, the Broncos were outplayed that game and if it wasn’t for 2 return TDs by Trindon, the game wouldn’t have been in OT.

Baltimore could’ve gone the year earlier when a dropped TD pass kept them from beating the Pats.

All I remember is the long TD pass Denver gave up

The main thing that stood out to me from that game was how dead Peyton Manning's arm looked. It was a glimpse into what was to come

Jones returned a kick/punt return as well. If We don’t leave champ on an island or if we left Rahim Moore back at the hotel, we probably win as well. It was a shite defensive strategy Denver used.

Peyton’s arm was fine until the end of the game. You’re remembering the game vs the Colts two years later in the playoffs. Manning’s arm died halfway thru the 2014 season.

2012 Peyton in a dome would have shredded the Niners defense

Which is a testament to his greatness because it was obvious that his arm strength was already declining at that point. His injury was a nerve injury that caused degenerative weakness. The cold in that playoff game exaggerated the issue.
