If Aaron Judge is the MVP over Altuve then the voters are a sham

they've always rewarded body of work, if they buy into the espn hype and give him the MVP they obviously care nothing about the tradition of the game and are trying to build hype by giving the biggest name the spotlight.
i honestly think Altuve is one of the best Cinderella stories in sports but it will never be the main headline on espn because of the small market factor, but they feed that bias in by only covering the red sox/yankees/dodgers
end rant

No way they give it to judge with all those strikeouts

Yankees have historically always been given the benefit of the doubt. I think Altuve deserves it, but the media gonna media.

You should have just bumped the other thread.

In my opinion, there isn’t a wrong opinion between Altuve and Judge, unless you say it is a slam dunk or no brainer either way. Both have valid arguments for it.

Pretty much this.
Judge had a higher OBP, slugging, and scored more runs than Altuve. He had better park-adjusted numbers than Altuve. A better defender according to the metrics. He had a higher WAR than Altuve, according to Fangraphs. More weighted runs created.
Judge led the league in homers, walks, runs, 2nd in RBI, etc, etc. etc
To act as if there is no case for Judge to win the MVP over Altuve is asinine. Yet, there are plenty of Astrotards claiming that it would be a "travesty" or that they'd never respect the MVP award again if Judge wins.

Someone explain to me how the city with the 4th largest population in the US is constantly referred to as a "small market"...

My argument against Judge is that he completely disappeared for about 6 weeks shortly after the all Star break. That includes the full month of August when he hit only 3 hrs and had around a .680 OPS. That's horrible for a power hitter. Had he been just an average hitter during that cold streak maybe the Yankees win the division outright instead of the wild card.

That's rich coming from a Stro's fan. The entire philosophy of your organization is anti-tradition.

Judge was benched, not rested, post All-Star break. No way Altuve would ever be benched.

yeah, that's not true. He was given a day or two to rest and clear his head, but saying "he was benched" is pretty damn disingenuous. Judge had 16 more PA appearances than Altuve on the year, so pretty impressive for a guy who was "benched" post break.

Give Judge the rookie of the year and Altuve the MVP.

I think Altuve is the MVP as well but I won't say the system is a sham if a guy with 52 homeruns wins it.

Their love-fest for Judge makes me dislike him.

There isn't even a conversation to be had. This is a one man race

Did not know this, so I appreciate you posting it. All I had followed was his bombs and strikeouts.
(I will still go nuclear if Tuve doesn't get it because I am a huge homer, just not quite as much)
