I seriously think people arguing the umpire made the right call don’t understand sports

I am not a fan of the Nats or Astros and haven’t even really watched much of this series.

If you honestly think that was interference you have no idea what you are talking about and should never be allowed to have a sports opinion again.

He ran IN A STRAIGHT LINE TO THE BASE.
Go ahead and say “YoU hAvE tO sTaY iN tHe RuNnInG lane” if you want, if you make that argument.... I’m sorry but you’re an idiot.

You are allowed by EVERY UMP EVERY OTHER TIME to run in a straight line to your base. The ONLY reason that dumbass called that is because the guy lost his glove.

Hes 100% allowed to run to the middle of that base.

Don’t bother posting in this thread if you disagree, because you’re just wrong and stupid.

Eventually the MLB will even come out and admit they were wrong

If you think about it, it was the Astros who got screwed.

Our pitchers arm got cold over a farce of a review.

Astros should think about protesting imo

Tell me at what point Turner took his first step outside the foul line, you know, in the runner’s lane.

Ok, so explain to me why they have a running lane to first base. You know, since you know so much more about sports then me. Why do they have a running lane?

The 1st baseman catches the ball easily if he stretches the right way. That goofy mother fricker has the wrong foot on the bag.

This. WTF was he doing? Bad throw and terrible foot work by Astros first baseman = Turner's fault.

So you can’t run around a tag or intentionally interfere with a throw. I thought everyone knew this

You can argue the rule if you'd like, but the right call was made. It felt cheap, but it is what it is.

No such thing as a base path until a tag is attempted. Runner can go anywhere (i.e. when a runner is going for a double and veers wide to the right to round off the turn around first base.

I agree but in your example a play is not being made on the batter-runner at first base.

When running the last half of the way to first base while the ball is being fielded in the vicinity of first, a baserunner must stay within the three-foot runner's lane to the right of the foul line unless they are avoiding a player fielding a batted ball. If the umpire determines that the baserunner has interfered with the player taking the throw at first base by running to the left of the foul line or to the right of the runner's lane, the baserunner can be called for interference.
