Oakland doesn’t deserve anything in that city…

They're coming to Portland, mate.
Portland Lumberjacks. Notice the Oregon outline within the P.
I'm praying for deep deep green and an old school tennis creme for the colours. Maybe a splash of light blue like Tulane and the Milwaukee Bucks have used.
Here's me good mate Tristan modeling the cap.

Move them to Philly.

Good looking hat.
That's where the positive things to say stop.

I wanted to make fun of this but the Portland metro region has a larger population than Vegas.
The advantage Vegas has is being a destination/entertainment city and therefore drawing tourists to come see their favorite teams when they play in Vegas

2/10 for the effort you put in to making this thread, but I did my own research.
I think that proposed stadium in Oakland looks way better than anything they could put in Las Vegas. New Oakland Park proposal

Seems like the toughest part of it would be competing with the Giants. The 2 stadiums would be <10 miles apart.

As soon as those crowd counts come in this season, the refrain will be inevitable: Oakland does not support the A’s! Move the team to Las Vegas!
When you hear this — and you will hear this — bear in mind it is absolute nonsense.
I am from Montreal, and this is the same rubbish heard during the death spiral of the Expos. The formula appears the same: the owners trash the ballpark and say they need a new one; the owners get rid of your favorite players and say they cannot afford them; the fans wonder why they should pay to watch a revolving cast of players in a ballpark branded by the team as terrible; the low attendance becomes publicly mistaken as the illness rather than the symptom.
Since the end of last season, the team rooted in Oakland has cut costs by dumping star first baseman Matt Olson, star third baseman Matt Chapman, starting pitchers Chris Bassitt and Sean Manaea, and even manager Bob Melvin. The A’s slashed their player payroll by just about half — to $48 million, lowest in the majors, according to the Associated Press — and raised ticket prices.
Is this all a setup for owner John Fisher to throw his hands up at the end of this season and say, “No support, we’re outta here?”
Dave Kaval, the team president, answer to my question about the legitimacy of the stadium pursuit was:
“We wouldn’t be spending $2 million a month if we weren’t serious about staying in Oakland,” Kaval said.
Kaval has insisted repeatedly that the proposed waterfront ballpark, surrounded by a new and vibrant ballpark neighborhood and within walking distance from the heart of the city, is the cure for what ails the A’s.
Seems like the toughest part of it would be competing with the Giants. The 2 stadiums would be <10 miles apart.
quote:
“In a two-team market, with us competing against the Giants, we need a product that’s at the same level,” Kaval said. “That is what it is going to require for two teams to be successful in this marketplace.”
The Giants started this season with a $158-million payroll, and revenues about to soar as the team completes its new and vibrant ballpark neighborhood. Even if the A’s build that waterfront home, can they truly compete with the Giants in this marketplace?
Can the A’s really plan for a payroll in the top 10 in the major leagues?
“I think the revenue from a new waterfront ballpark in Oakland can support that,” Kaval said. “One hundred percent.”

Regardless Las Vegas or Portland
Must keep the name , logo , hat and uniforms.
Only change the city name on the road uniforms. The A’s name has been in three cities, needs to stay. Funnily like the Raiders it’s a name that can travel to any city really
Edit: Hope they stay and get the waterfront park

That’s nice and all, but the A’s had that core of players competing at a high level for 4 years in a row and still nobody came

their avg attendance actually increased in 2018 & 2019 (up to around 20k) before covid. Which is pretty far from the 35-40k that the giants average, but it could easily get back to that level with a new stadium & better support from ownership.

They won 97 games both years and were 27th and 24th in MLB in attendance. I don’t have a ton of sympathy for the fan base as a whole when they don’t support a team that wins.
Their ownership is cheap without a doubt, I’m not trying to defend them either. The real crime is that they weren’t allowed to move to Silicon Valley. I think that would have changed the trajectory of the franchise

IIRC, the As have had a very contentious relationship with Oakland and Alameda County for about 30+ years with regards to the stadium.
The fight with the area over a new stadium is hardly a new development. And unfortunately the As fricked themselves by conceding some territorial rights to the Giants in the 90s to prevent their move to St Petersburg, which are limiting their options in the greater SF area as a result.
Short term attendance gains don’t necessarily offset the long term issues between the team and the area, which is a habitual deal with teams in the metro area from the Giants to the Raiders to the Cal football team.

Not much different than the Yankees and Mets stadiums being less than 7 miles from each other.

Giants have been pretty terrible to the A’s this whole process
A’s owner gave them territorial rights to San Jose area in the early 90’s to keep them in town
Giants only turned around and nuked the A’s move to San Jose 10 years ago. Petty and messed up
