Ohio State was Nebraska’s protected crossover, hence the disparity in games played. This will change in 2022 — Ohio State will be Wisconsin’s protected crossover, but it’s currently Michigan. In 2022, it’ll be Nebraska/Michigan

Interesting to know the B1G cares not for important rivalry games!

Right, but what’s the point of protected crossovers for 5 years? It’s a rediculous idea if they are scheduled based on ratings. If it’s on talent, makes some sense. Who the hell wants to watch Iowa play Rutgers for the next 5 years?

Yes it does. All of the main ones were included when they split into divisions. They are all played every year.

Wisconsin / Minnesota

Iowa / Minnesota

Michigan / OSU

Michigan / MSU

Indiana / Purdue

etc

Pat Forde story on the Husker whining

LINK

You know who else plays both Ohio State and Penn State this season? And Michigan? And in fact does it every season? Michigan State does. And Indiana. And Maryland. And Rutgers. Nebraska has spent the previous six seasons playing in the easier of the Big Ten’s two divisions, the West, which has won a grand total of zero league championship games since the current alignment started in 2014.

Despite playing in the easier division, Nebraska’s conference record in that time has been 23-29. Poor guys really do need — wait, deserve — a break.
But Moos wasn’t just complaining about playing what might be the two best teams in the Big Ten. He was also complaining about the order of the games. Ohio State is the opener, on the road, and you would not believe the horrors travel apparently presents to Nebraska.

“First time we’re on a charter aircraft, first time we’re in a hotel, first time everybody on the sidelines has masks on, first time with electronic whistles, everything’s going to be new,” Moos said. “I didn’t feel that had to happen.”
Poor things.

First time on a charter aircraft? Incredible difficulty there. But thank god it’s not commercial. The hardship there would be way too much for a Nebraska athlete. (Except all the non-revenue ones who are used to it.)

First time in a hotel? Here is a surprise hurdle. It would seem possible — perhaps even likely — that all the Nebraska players have some familiarity with hotels. If they need help with the key cards, have athletic support staffers hold their hands and show them how they work. The elevators could pose another immense challenge — but, hey, Scott Frost has just over a month to coach his guys up on what all the buttons do.

The schedules are set by the league...dates and matchups. TV does have a cascade for what games are played morning, afternoon, and evening, but the league has control over the important stuff. It's systematic, nonbiased...as it should be.

For example, since joining the B1G, Nebraska has been scheduled against OSU 8 times while Iowa has only had to play them twice.

It's not like Iowa is getting Indiana all the time. For some reason Iowa always gets Penn State. Let's also not forget that the last two times Iowa has played OSU they are 1-1.

If there is a beef that both Iowa and Nebraska have it's that Wisconsin always seems to get Michigan as their tough crossover game. Michigan hasn't exactly been OSU or PSU lately.

In the end you need to beat the teams you are scheduled to play.

How many times do we have to say it...the crossovers rotate and everyone eventually gets everyone

The Badgers didn't play scUM at all between 2010 and 2015. They rotated on in 2016.

So guys, one more time...IT'S STRUCTRED AND SYSTEMATIC. Or do you think there are a bunch of guys behind closed doors going "Nebraska pissed us off...let's make their crossover games really hard...how about OSU and PSU?" (Old white dudes then proceed to high five with "they are SO fricked!")

ETA: We got the pleasure of facing OSU as recently as last year...in Cbus.

Yes, they are rotated, going forward. In the past though, due to the conference changes, Iowa has played PSU a ton. Starting in 2007 Iowa and PSU have played:

07,08,09,10,11,12, 13-15 off, 16,17,18,19, and now 2020.

Hey, I love playing PSU. There was a long stretch were we won every game. Now we're in a stretch of a PSU win streak and we've lost a few heartbreakers in there. It's been a great series. But there hasn't been much balance in the cross division scheduling.

Thing is to maintain scheduling balance the top 3 in the East have been paired with the top 3 in the West. It's been OSU, PSU, and scUM vs Wisco, Iowa, and Nebby. Problem for Nebby is Minnesota supplanting them for that top 3 spot in the West of late.

I don't think anyone thinks that. They were on our schedule already. Like I said, I think Moos's comments were a little deft, but he's largely talking about how crossovers are scheduled in general.

Also, Pat Forde can eat a bag of dicks. He probably kicked his dog when he heard the B1G was going to hold a revote

From the OP:

The schedule they received is BS.

From a random fan-sided article:

quote:

The Big Ten didn’t do Nebraska any favors with their revised schedule and there are whispers that the league is sending a message to the program for being so vocal in their disdain for the conference, including threatening to leave the conference and threatening legal action.

And I wager I wouldn't have to dig too deep on any Nebraska message board to find pages of conspiracy theories.

Touche
I was referring to Nebraska fans being mad at playing 2 teams that were already on the schedule. It's not like they got added by the B1G out of spite.. I love it, let's play all the best teams.

I'm sure there are some people on message boards whining about the schedule. It is a message board. 90% of the posts are whiners

2.

If we claimed championships like the SEC does, we'd have about 11 or so.

And none of that gives you a win against us.

Hindsight is 20/20... Michigan not being Ohio State or Penn State isn't Wisconsin's problem. Point remains, the schedules were locked between 2016-21 (Wisconsin didn't get Michigan from 2011-15). All of Iowa, Nebraska and Wisconsin were protected against three of the most-storied programs in the B1G. Starting 2022, it will rotate - Iowa/Rutgers, Nebraska/Michigan and Wisconsin/Ohio State are protected. Iowa will gets its chance to take a breath of fresh air against the bottom of the B1G.

If "there is beef," it should be Iowa and Nebraska letting Wisconsin run away with the West. Since the inaugural B1G Championship in 2011, Wisconsin has been there six times (Iowa/Nebraska have two combined appearances), including a 14-2 record against the aforementioned teams.

68, 69 and 94?

Or are you going the Michigan route and claiming championships won during the American Civil War.

(*Facetious statement so you don't have to go to your auto reply comeback.)

If we were an SEC team, we'd claim one every time we won a bowl game before 1998.
