I love both nba and MLB but comparisons would have to come from World Series and nba finals not a night a year event of home runs that everyone even the most casual fan will watch.

The Heat played in the finals and you can't get a more casual fan than a heat fan.

Game 3 against the Bulls was on ESPN and it was lower than the HR Derby.

So was the rest of the series on TNT for that matter.

Ya but its not a 1 time or miss it completely like the derby. Every series heat were in you were guaranteed to see them at least 4 times.if heat make finals and sweep at worst you see them 16 times.
They didn't sweep so you got to see them a ton and if you missed them you waited 2 days.

Derby u miss it you wait a year.
The finals drew something like. 17 rating when u knew that was it. People watch when they know no more after that.

Comparing a one night a year event to a 3 month event just seems like a cry from MLB fans when they don't need to be crying about it. Most people think this year started off slow but it will prob pick up steam in 2nd half like always.
