How to find a sports article from 1997?

I'm trying to find an old article in the Alexandria Town Talk from 1997. I can't remember the exact date but it was during the Class B baseball semifinals at Bringhurst in Alexandria. I lost the original paper that I had in a scrap book to a house fire.
I've googled and everything else but all I found was a score for the title game.
I know I could call the paper or see if a library has one of those old newspaper searching machines. But I was hoping it would be archived on the internet and someone here would know a way to recover it.
Even though the article had me in it a few times, it pretty much pointed out that I was the reason we lost and was pretty negative on my play so this isn't a brag thread. Any help would be appreciated.

As someone who has worked in print journalism, there is almost zero chance you will find it archived online. I know all of the publications I worked for moved their old editions into bigass scrapbook things and they were stashed at the local universities.

I've only seen those on movies and wasn't sure if libraries still had those. I'll check it out. Thanks.

Thanks. I was afraid of that but it really did only mention me as the turning point in our loss. I should be happy if its forever gone.

I’ve found old content at newspapers.com.
I think the Town Talk is available. You can search for free for 7 days.

Not true. If you have a Louisiana Library card you can go to newsbank.com and search there. They have most Louisiana newspapers online dating back to 1984 and some further back than that.

Nice. I’ve only worked at some mid-market places in Texas so that’s not a feature I’m familiar with. Seems like a solid one though.

My knuckles are way too smooth to do that. An old seasoned vet with scarred up knuckles would kick my arse and make me eat his Coney dong.
Unless he predicts before the fight that he will kick my arse. In that case, I would look like prime Mike Tyson when I destroy that legend.

You are overestimating the comprehensiveness of the internet in 1997.

It's really convenient. I had used it back in 2008-09 to compile all the football articles for my high school. As well as using micro film at the Nicholls library for the older articles.
It looks like now you may have to go to your Library and get them to set you up an account to access it if your local Library doesn't have a portal to it. It used to be you just select your library and enter your card number and you'd have access.

Since no one asked, how did you blow it according to the paper?

Little late replying but I don't want to say too much info. I was named by the head coach as killing our momentum with an inning ending double play with our best hitters coming up. I was on first, batter crushes a line drive straight up the middle and the pitcher accidently caught it in self defense. I was picked off trying to get back to the bag. I did nothing wrong but the two comments made about me were negative even though I had a good individual game. But I really wanted that article regardless and I actually found an old teammate today that still has a copy of the article and he is copying me one.

Gotcha. Sounds like a play you couldn't do anything about.
