I hope Foster is dirty because if not he's incompetent.

He has publically claimed the 2002 WCF and the 2006 NBA Finals were fixed.

I think the 2006 Finals has been THE series most NBA "conspiracy" theorists have pointed to for the last 10+ years anyway though. There was a three game stretch where Wade shot more free throws than the entire Mavericks team combined.

The Stern mafia could not let the fans think that it was more than one ref going rogue. The integrity of the league would have been lost completely if there was the belief it was a team of refs that had been compromised. The media really helped the NBA's narrative by playing up the rogue ref claim.

David Stern is going to handle this thread.

You’ve been warned

You do know that Scott Foster is reffing a game right now, right?

Ironic gif since Donaghy rigged Gm 6 against the Kings.

That series felt dirty. I still don't really know why the NBA would have wanted Miami to win unless Stern hated Cuban that much.

OK I quit watching the NBA awhile back because in part to infuriating refereeing. Is this for real? How the hell is Foster really still employed? This is where you should have “eased him out”. Of course, I always thought that the NBA has integrity issues with some refs.

He’s reffing a game as we speak.

I don’t think the thought is the NBA itself was rigging the games but that Tim was not the only ref on the take

Ahh. That makes much more sense.

I don't know, but the shift in officiating after the game 2 blowout was astounding.

I will say the league was in a ratings lull at the time. The 2003-2007 stretch where you had only one of ten Finals participants being a "marquee" franchise was a bad time for the league office. I've always wondered if the NBA saw a sweep coming and in turning the series in Miami gave the Heat all the momentum. Game 6 was actually pretty fairly called but the three in Miami were obscene. I would guess they just wanted a 7 game series.
