I didn't realize Washington State had such a low level of talent, yet Leach continues to have success there.

This is total team talent this year from 247

Yes, you read that right - Kansas has more 4 stars than WSU.
His success if beyond impressive.

Can you define "success"?

Because he's a very good coach and should be coaching for a major program.

People are probably scared of the awesome things he says and does. Craig James' son is a pussy.

Next level innovation on offense that produces quality QB play year in and year out.

An above average team in a terrible conference is success?

They finished as a top 10 team last year and they are currently top 20 - I would say that's successful with a #70 talent team, wouldn't you?

He's a great, not elite, coach in a time when there's a lot of garbage at the bowl subdivision level. It truly is insane what happened with him and ESPN at Texas Tech and will eventually be an amazing documentary when he hangs it up.

What was their record the 7 seasons prior to Mike Leach?
11-2 in 2018
9-4 in 2017
He’s doing well

The previous coach went 9-40

The previous coach went 9-40

They are exactly .500 all time winning percentage.

Also, arguably the most rural power 5 school in state that doesn’t produce a ton of talent. That state also has a elite level coach in it. Seattle>Pullman

I don’t understand how someone could think what leach is doing is just above average

3-9
6-7
3-9
9-4
8-5
9-4
11-2
3-0

I guess I'm getting jumped for not saying he's an elite coach. I think he is good at what he does and it is better to be at a school like Washington State. But "success" should mean something in terms of hardware.

That is usually the standard this board holds.

SFP was a huge chip guy also. Back when LSU was playing Oregon many like him were shocked LSU crushed them. I always got roasted for saying Kelly was overrated.

when he was at Oregon he wasn't. that was a long time ago now, with 2 HC stints and 1 CFB coaching job since

Chip Kelly has lost it. Leach hasn't

He is 3 games into his 8th year, in the full 8 eight years before he got there they won a total of 29 games. Of that 29, only 9 of them came in the 4 years before he got there, that program was dead and gone
