Apples and oranges. Anyone going to BYU must agree to basically live like a Morman(no alcohol, coffee, tobacco, pre-marital sex, or even living with someone of the opposite sex). If you don't follow their rules, you will be expelled. Your fellow students, even teammates will tell on you.
It is much less restrictive for a non-Catholic to attend Notre Dame.

That is a million times different. BYU is primarily a religious cult school where Mormonism classes are a requirement and premarital sex is forbidden, you get kicked out.
Notre Dame is just another regular school.

Visit Utah and many of you will be pleasantly surprised at the abundance of fit, beautiful blonde girls who are down.
I know BYU is different, but an insane percentage of students are married anyway. Most unmarried football players are smart enough to take their game out of the Provo metro area.

If you've got to go to SLC to avoid BYU honor code snitches you might as well go to UoU.

Truth.
I visited the SLC metro area last year and found the human and geographic scenery quite pleasant.
Also, the only homeless person I saw was wearing clothes from GAP.

BYU has long had the largest average home attendance out West (Colorado, Idaho, Montana, California, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, New Mexico, Hawaii, and Alaska) than any other university. BYU against P5 programs averages over 2.2 million views per game. Its important to note that BYU's numbers have been suppressed because they weren't in a power conference but when they play a power 5 football program (even crappy ones) their views increased over 1.7 million.
BYU has 37k students in 2021
Oklahoma has 22k students in 2021.
BYU has a sizeable alumni advantage over the University of Oklahoma believe it or not.
BYU is also the school a lot of non-Utah Mormons root for. Same way Catholics all used to root for ND way back when.
Within Utah though there are just as many UoU fans as there are BYU apparently.

BYU is one of the few schools that could survive and thrive outside a P5 conference.
Ole Miss, LSU, Miss St, Arkansas, Missouri, etc. would have failed if they had to follow BYU’s plan….so would most every other school.

Dress and Grooming Standards
The dress and grooming of both men and women should always be modest, neat, and clean, consistent with the dignity adherent to representing The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and any of its institutions of higher education.
Modesty and cleanliness are important values that reflect personal dignity and integrity, through which students, staff, and faculty represent the principles and standards of the Church. Members of the BYU community commit themselves to observe the following standards, which reflect the direction of the Board of Trustees and the Church publication For the Strength of Youth. The Dress and Grooming Standards are as follows:
Men
A clean and well-cared-for appearance should be maintained. Clothing is inappropriate when it is sleeveless, revealing, or form fitting. Shorts must be knee-length or longer. Hairstyles should be clean and neat, avoiding extreme styles or colors, and trimmed above the collar, leaving the ear uncovered. Sideburns should not extend below the earlobe or onto the cheek. If worn, moustaches should be neatly trimmed and may not extend beyond or below the corners of the mouth. Men are expected to be clean-shaven; beards are not acceptable. Earrings and other body piercing are not acceptable. Shoes should be worn in all public campus areas.
Women
A clean and well-cared-for appearance should be maintained. Clothing is inappropriate when it is sleeveless, strapless, backless, or revealing; has slits above the knee; or is form fitting. Dresses, skirts, and shorts must be knee-length or longer. Hairstyles should be clean and neat, avoiding extremes in styles or colors. Excessive ear piercing (more than one per ear) and all other body piercing are not acceptable. Shoes should be worn in all public campus areas.

Why is BYU a cult? Just because they maintain strict dress code policy and not to act like a slut? Good for them trying to maintain at least some type of decency

Jim McMahon said, "happiness was seeing Provo in my rearview mirror.". He couldn't stand the place but went there because they were producing NFL quarterbacks with Norm Chow. Kids today have so many options and BYU isn't what they used to be football-wise. Non-Mormons aren't going to BYU, Big-12 doesn't change their recruiting at all.

That is a gorgeous backdrop. I always liked that their football stadium was built close to the mountains too.

Going to help their recruiting
I think there are certain factors that limit their recruiting potential no matter which conference they are in. But yes they are a much bigger brand than most realize.
But they have one built in advantage, the mandatory 2 year mission that LDS kids have to do. Guys leave after Freshman redshirt year, and come back older and stronger. By the time they graduate you have 25 or 26 yr old men playing.

Its a Soviet twist of amateurism. These are grown arse men. Standing on the sidelines holding their 3 kids on the sidelines while competing against 18-year olds.

I know you know when they go do those missions, they really have no way to train…
