How did the Peach Bowl become such a prestigious bowl game?

Not saying it wasn’t a good bowl. I don’t remember it being one of the elite bowls years ago.

I feel like the NCAA kind of championed Atlanta and the Peach Bowl along with the Falcons new stadium

They needed another bowl for the semifinal rotation. It's an easy flight, good weather and nice stadium.

When the playoffs started, any bowl could apply to be a part of it, but few could meet the requirements.
The Peach Bowl and Cotton Bowl, which had lost it’s elite status, were added to the 4 BCS bowls.

With a domed stadium weather doesn't matter. Detroit and Minneapolis could host the playoffs with enough financial backing.

Both lovely in January. You realize people don't want to travel for a game and just go directly from their hotel into the stadium?

While true for the game, there are a ton of events surrounding these games that do not take place in the stadium. The ability to have them outdoors and not have prohibitive travel weather is huge.

Easy travel weather in addition to ample flights on a short term basis from anywhere with enough hotel rooms, also on a short term basis, in addition to the money are all huge factors.

Have you been to Dallas in January?

Not a problem for the NFL.

Money. When I was young the Rose, Sugar, Orange and Cotton were the big 4. Suddenly the Fiesta came out of nowhere and supplanted the Cotton. Now the Cotton and Peach paid to get back in with the big boys. Hence NY6.

I still don't think it is. It's just not on the level of the Sugar Bowl or Orange Bowl or even the Cotton Bowl for me.
