Chicago is one of the worst city's for a pro player to play in. There aren't many true fans and mainly the football and basketball players aren't treated like the fans appreciate them.
Chicago doesn't care about sports or teams unless they are good. The city cares more about " food culture" " being liberal" " not doing anything about crime" than being a sports city

I think it was a top 10 all time gathering, but those crowd estimates are far from accurate.
How would you say the makeup is of Cubs and White Sox fans in Chicago? Probably 90% Cubs.

Sounds likes most cities.

Because NBA fans follow where the stars go. It’s a bandwagon league.

Outside of the Jordan 90's era, it has been an abysmal franchise

As usual you come with an awful take.
As much as i hate them, bears fans are super loyal. Cubs fans, obviously. And the Blackhawks have lead the nhl in attendance pretty much the last 10 years, including the last two shitty seasons. Up until a couple days ago they had the fewest points in the western conf but still lead in attendance.

I think it's been proven to be much closer to 60/40.
Just found this link, pretty cool. Outside of a concentrated area on the south side the Cubs dominate.

Yeah, the Bears have over 100% capacity even when they suck.

Wow, that's really surprising. I always liked watching the Sox because of Hawk.

They were annoying bandwagoners with the Blackhawks, but it's otherwise a great sports town. As much as I make fun of the junior vice president frat stars who go to Wrigley to drink Old Style, catch some rays, and be seen, they always showed up during the lean years. They're insane about the Bears. With the popularity of the other teams and the Blackhawks' success, the Bulls are naturally going to be down a bit in terms of interest.

Ha, he was one of the many reasons most cubs fans can't stand the Sox. They're basically a non starter for me but Hawk was awful. The biggest whiniest homer you'll ever find. I couldn't stand the guy. (And he had a true burning hatred for the cubs)

The Hawks for decades had an amazing following until Dollar Bill drove them away. The guy was ranked the worst owner in all of sports. To his credit Rocky did an amazing job bringing them back. So people who thinks the Hawks aren't a historically rabid and committed fanbase are just wrong.

nba bandwagon fans like individual players a lot more than teams.

Ha, he was one of the many reasons most cubs fans can't stand the Sox.
But that announcer was jealous that the Cubs could suck and draw more fans and better tv ratings... Oh, and Sammy Sosa, who was briefly a White Sox

Yup, this is absolutely true.

Well yeah, because you'd have to call yourself weird.
However, I still don’t call myself a super fan, and I know cubs fans way more devoted than me who have never gone up for a game

There are some horrible takes in this thread, yet yours clearly stands out as the worst.

Bulls won 6 championships in the 90’s. A lot of those who watched them are now in their mid 30’s and older.
A lot of them split their fanhood between GS and whoever LBJ is playing for now. Probably cheered for the Lakers in the early 2000s too with Phil Jackson being there. I think it was a similar phenomenon back then, they were probably more MJ fans than anything else and would have taken their fanhood wherever he went, just so happened that he stayed in Chicago.
