Unlike many people, I enjoy having a lot of bowl games, so I’m sad to see any of them cancelled.

Holiday bowl unfortunately wasn’t one of the bowls that needed to be eliminated. It’s usually been a decent matchup.

I'm guessing we won't be seeing any bowls other than the NY6/CFP

Sponsors don't want anything to do with a bowl game this year

Bowls are there to bring some tourism dollars to areas that are pretty much slow during that time of the year
I'm sure ESPN wants the inventory so I'm guessing most of the SEC bowl tie ins will likely stick since several are in Florida and rest are in SEC footprint.

Well, if you read the "Thanksgiving" guidelines the Authoritarians on the left have put in for California, none of this should shock you.

I can't wait to see how they handle the Pagan holiday of Christmas. We know how much the left hates Christians. Gonna be fun to watch that unfold.

People who actively root for less bowl games and less football are so odd

Definitely one of those “careful what you wish for” things.

I never understood the handwringing over the number of bowl games. More football is more football.

They're demolishing the stadium early next year and I saw a video recently from inside the stadium and it looks pretty run down (more than normal)

Maybe they figured it would cost too much money to get the stadium presentable, especially since no one would be in the stands so they pulled the plug on it.

Demolition of the stadium is set for Q1 2021, so they are stripping out all the stuff now. That is as much a reason as COVID for no bowl. Only Petco would be available, and the dimensions make it difficult to do so.

And Holiday Bowl (and defunct Poinsettia Bowl) is owned by the San Diego Bowl Game Association. So it is unlikely to go anywhere. It will begin being played in SDSU Aztec Stadium starting in 2022.

those two teams will probably find somewhere else to go... now the 6-6 CUSA and MAC teams on the other hand...

I've been saying for months...any bowl that takes place in California ain't happening because of Gavin Newsom (dictator of California).

He won't even let families gather together for Thanksgiving...if they do they have to wear masks and sit 6 feet apart from each other outside and use disposable cups and utensils and paper plates...and no music is to be played as it might make people linger longer at the gathering.
