Highlight shows outside of ESPN
I ditched cable roughly five years ago because raising small children didn't leave me much time for television. Now that they're older and both attending school, I'm looking to follow sports again, at least casually.

Is there any outlet other than ESPN that provides a Sportscenter-like show offering highlights of the days events in an hour or less? Does such a thing exist on YouTube? I'm guessing not because of rights fees, and such. Can I get something like this anyplace beside ESPN?

It's not a political thing, my avoiding the World Wide Leader. Just looking to save a few bucks, if possible.

you can find every single highlight to every single game just by simply using google

Smart idea to avoid ESPN if you want highlights anyway. Unless you enjoy the first 10 minutes of the show being entirely highlights from the Yankees game, followed by a 15 minute roundtable discussion of "what's wrong with the Yankees," and then one play from the Indians/White Sox game.

Thanks, but that's not what I'm looking for. I basically want the modern equivalent to Sporstcenter circa 1995. One stop shopping, if you will.

You can either get a time machine or twitter and tailor your feed to seeing highlights

re: Highlight shows outside of ESPN
that doesnt exist. but you can pretty much look up any game you want in a micro second and find suitable highlights for it

the closest thing youll get is look up the MLB and NBA youtube page at the end of the day and just let the videos auto start from one to the next

Which of the boards do you suppose would be the best place to inquire about getting my hands on a time machine? I'm thinking "Politics"...

It sounds like ESPN hasn't changed much in the last five years.

I have the CBS sports HQ app (free) on my Roku and they have 30 minute highlight shows that are a lot like Sports Center from 30 years ago.
No sappy stories or opinion pieces.

That's always been my argument when this type of thread is brought up. Someone will say you can literally find any highlight instantly, but that is not the point. I don't go searching for Mariners highlights, but if an awesome play happened in a game, it would be cool to have it presented. Clearly, there's not really a market for that.

I remember when NBCSports first started, they had a show called "The Lights". It was essentially just a show that played highlights with commentary directly from the games. It was great, but I guess nobody watched it.

ETA: Although, I guess it is available judging from the post above mine. I need to look into that.

Ironically, this only exists on ESPN when SVP does his 11pm Sportscenter.

I don't think FS1 even does a daily sports studio show anymore.

re: Highlight shows outside of ESPN
go to the leagues websites

NHL as an example with give you option of highlights, goals, 5 minute game recap, full game video.

I'm sure others have similar dealios.
