Very widespread
You see spots on hats all the time. But there’s so many places to hide pine tar or tuff skin it will be almost impossible to get rid of

DeGrom's spin rate is up this year, from what I hear.
Gausman's is down, also from what I hear.

The use now goes beyond simply having control and is being used to enhance spin rates. It’s definitely a contributor to why strikeout rates keep rising

Yeah, major league hitters definitely don't want any part of the spin rate that pitchers are producing this season.

A lot of pitchers use sunscreen. That will be hard to crack down on as they will just put too much on.

This is why that crackdown is coming.
Just go watch the clips on The Pitching Ninja on Twitter and see some of the crazy arse movement guys can put on the ball. Mix that in with pitchers coming out of the same arm slot for each of their pitches and you're in trouble

This needs to happen. In the old days, Bauer would be treated like Jim Bouton. Honestly, this could be a step towards getting some much needed base hits in the game in place of Ks.
